Replacing Water Line to Residential Fridge

The water line to the residential refrigerator started leaking a few years ago. Being we can live without the ice maker, I just turned the water off to the fridge. However, now I'm thinking I should fix it. I'm concerned that there is not enough room to roll the fridge out to get behind it to do the repair. I have 2016 Pinnacle 38FSA and the kitchen island is in front of the half the fridge. The fridge is in the kitchen slide out. Is there access from below the slide out if I pull the fridge out away from the wall?

Let me here from anyone who has had this issue.

Thanks,

Sounds like we have a similar setup. Our Fridge ice maker line froze over. We removed the tiedowns on the fridge so we could push it forward and just shy of hitting the island. I could then access the water line going up the fridge and into the icemaker from the access panel outside.

Unfortunately his 2016 doesn't have that panel and the only way is to pull the fridge off the slide out. It will probably require removing the doors to get enough clearance. He will also have to build a platform, level with the slide, to pull it out.

I was hoping there was an access panel. I guess Jayco figured that out after my model year. You are right Grumpy! I will have to lay down some boards to level up to the platform the fridge is sitting on. I had not thought of taking the doors off. It sounds like a lot of work but it is doable. I’d rather do it myself than take it to the dealer and let it sit for months!

What Grumpy said about a platform to roll refrigerator out on.

If you are normal size, you should have no problem.
When we had our 2016 Pinnacle I had refrigerator out several times. After you roll it out you can also turn it to get behind it.

Thanks Jason! I figure I won’t know what I got until I do a trial run of pulling the fridge out and seeing what I’m dealing with. Did you have to replace the water line on yours? My line is that small plastic line like the one in the house. My guess is the line is rubbing on something while traveling and that is what iss wearing a hole in it.

Replace with a stainless steel braided line. Think mine was either 3’ or 5’

There is a screw on both sides of refrigerator at the bottom you have to remove and reinstall.

Be careful with the trim on the edge of the slide floor. When the fridge was replaced on ours they cracked the trim. Not sure if yours is the same but you might considering removing it before moving the fridge out.
