Residential refrig winterize?

What is the best way to winterize with a residential frig?
If run RV antifreeze through the system, I will need to replace the frig water filter each spring, correct? Also the ice maker.

This is a common thread on the forum. I have a residential refrigerator and decided to not run antifreeze through it. Besides having to replace the filter, it would take a while to flush the antifreeze from the ice maker. Instead I blew it out with air and called it good. Epic Fail. Apparently I didn't quite get all the water out and split the water supply tube over the winter. I have no answer I guess. I no longer use the water/ice function.

Thanks for the post. I thought of doing the same thing. I see no other way then to run antifreeze through it. It would also need to be filling the ice tray at the time to make sure the antifreeze gets all the wat through the system.

I do not nor will not run anti freeze through my ice maker. All you need to do is ensure you have both valves open and drain via the low point drains. Yes, you can blow air through the lines and it is always a good idea. I have a 2017 Pinnacle and one valve is behind the drawer under the stove and the other is under the kitchen island sink. I have never put anti freeze through those lines and I don't recommend it. SKIDAWG

If you have the owners manual, there is an entire section on winterizing with specifics on the residential refrigerator. I have only winterized once since we got ours last year, but it went very well. If I remember correctly the manual says to NOT use antifreeze on the fridge. The fridge does have it's own drain line.

The ice tray does not need winterized. It freezes all the time . You just need to be concerned with everything up to the fill valve.

I will have heat running 24/7 during the winter and always keep the residential fridge running.
