Hello everyone!

I just bought a new pop up camper, to me at least. It is a 2009 Jayco jay series 1007. It is almost new as the gentleman before me took immaculate care of it. The only real things wrong or that you can pick at with it are the stickers are starting to dry rot, some fading on the light lens, and then like the plastic door holder for the half door is dry rotted. I was trying to keep it looking good and from leaking or getting damaged from rocks, branches, etc. I do take it down dirt road and mild off road stuff as we like to camp off grid but nothing extreme. I had thought about using like a bed liner to coat it with. Has anyone done this before? what are peoples thoughts on it? I like the idea because it will one help protect from the elements and second, one of my bigger reasons as well, is that i know it will help protect me from leaks. I plan on pulling all the light covers and panels off before I do it as to get all the way to those edges and give me the availability to replace or repair those items as needed. Any advice, suggestions, incite, etc would be greatly appreciated.

A very good friend had his roof of his fifth wheel bed lined, we removed the fabric on the roof, vents AC anything on the roof etc. We found a mobile company that came to his house they lined the roof. We painted everything white and then reinstall the vents and the AC units etc. It has been rocksolid since the installation including golf ball size hail.

Regarding going down gravel roads etc. buy yourself a set of mudflaps that goal over your receiver such as rock Tamers etc. bring a little air compressor with you and slightly air down your tires so the sidewalls have a little flex to them. This will help absorb some of the roughness when going off road. I took a different approach on my first pop-up. I lifted it and added a 3500# axle with 15 inch tires I also extended the frame so I could carry a little bit more stuff with me.

You could be bed line the roof, just make sure you remove everything from the roof before doing it. I would not do the entire camper

Thank you for your response I greatly appreciate it! Is there a certain reason you wouldn't do the lower half of the trailer as well? Did your buddy color his liner to make it match the rest of the RV? If so how has the color held up? I know when they first started doing linings with color they faded really bad after a year or so and looked bad and I wouldn't want mine looking like a donkey after a couple of years.

Well his camper was a fifth wheel. It was cheaper to have the guy come in and do a black bedliner and then paint it white simply to eliminate the heat issue on sunny days. I don’t remember the stuff we used but basically it was just designed to provide a white coating to the roof and some UV protection. A light pop up he’s going to move around and Flex that’s one of the reasons I would not do the rest of it.

I would find out how much the bed liner weighs per square foot. I would bet that doing t he whole thing would add 50-100 lbs of weight to a pop-up that can probably only carry about 800lbs. I personally wouldn't want to give up that much cargo capacity.

I have thought about the weight. I generally don't put water in my pop up until I get to the camp ground. I also dont really put much into the trailer or bring much with me. I am simple and try and get away from all the luxuries and all. The only reason I have a pop up is because the ole lady wanted it. I prefer hammocks or a few wool blankets on the ground next to the fire lol. I am old school. just trying to make this thing better and stronger.
