Rodent worry?

Hello experts,

I have a new 2018 jay flight 212 and am winterizing it for first time. My old trailer was sealed and never had to worry about mice etc during winter. Dealer is telling me I should spray underbelly with rodent spray($80) to protect. Said they can chew through bottom and yellow sprayed foam by drains etc. Salesman had told me no mice could get in. What do you do about this or am I worrying needlessly as usual. I store it beside house with a 2’ retaining wall on other side.

There is no such thing as 'sealed' camper that mice can't get in to. The usual deterrents are dryer sheets, peppermint oil, mothballs, steel wool around piping, sprays, etc.. Much depends on where the rig is parked and if the area is prone to rodents.
Folks have many different methods to keep the mice out. We use ALL the above and still have found a few droppings in the spring! LOL! My experience is that NOTHING works 100%. If you do a search here for 'mice', you'll see all the different methods folks use to try and keep them out.

We use the cheapest, smelliest dryer sheets, $1.67 a box. Just spread them around the trailer, in closet, bath, etc. Never had a rodent problem in six years, although I can't scientifically give credit to the dyer sheets, it's been the only thing we've done to keep rodents out, besides removing all food items of course.

We sprayed foamed all the holes underneath and in storage compartments, did use some wire mesh for under the batteries! Thanks

I mark the area I’ll be parking the camper. Then sprinkle mothball FLAKES on the ground in an area slightly larger than the camper. Then pull the camper over the area. Dryer sheets in the camper too.

We use bounce dryer sheets and remove all food. Do the dryer sheets work I don't know but camper smells nice. I also set up a few mouse traps just in case one gets in and I visit camper often as it sits next to my house in stones.
