RV Safe Toilet Paper Test/Review

These are great posts, thank you! Charmin is all we use at home so when we go camping I dread using that sandpaper stuff. Looks like Charmin or Kirkland is the way to go! :)

I would be curious to see how home TP dissolves/breaks down over the RV TP. I thought it was a Cardinal sin to use home TP in the RV septic tank? For us we have tested several RV TP brands and found that Scott's dissolved the best over other cheaper brands.

snip... For us we have tested several RV TP brands and found that Scott's dissolved the best over other cheaper brands.

Our own testing showed that Scott's 'standard' single ply dissolved as well as RV toilet paper. In the real world, we have had no problems using ordinary Scott's single ply.

Technically the RV tanks are not Septic tanks but simply holding tanks waiting to be emptied.

I often "squeeze" the Charmin but we always use what we use at home which is Angel Soft. You can test any yourself and many have preferences but any tp that has "septic safe" on the package should break down and do just fine in a rv holding tank.

X2 on holding tank. We use home TP. I think using plenty of water is more important than TP type. The only time in 9 years I had a clog was due to water conservation. I put an end to that. Much easier to put 1 or 2 six gallon jugs of water in the tank than it is to deal with a clog!

X2 on using plenty of water. And we'll continue to use TP we've tested and know that it breaks down readily.

We've been using Charmin TP for a couple of years now and haven't had a problem. I think using plenty of water with each flush helps regardless of the brand.

I've always heard to be cautious shaking hands with RV folks who only uses single ply TP haha...

I'm glad I've got the box of rubber gloves with me.
Now I know to use them at both the dump station, and when shaking hands with some RVers! :)

Don't all RVers use the Sheryl Crow method - one square per sitting?

The video is opposite of my test putting into glass and shaking for 30 seconds. The quilted northern was in shreds and I could wring out the Charmin like a washcloth. We've used quilted northern in our septic and RV and never any problems.

But you know arguing who's truck is better is more fun than who's TP is better.
