I read about the pinhole leaks and noticed that when the dealer installed my storage box they used self tapping screws from the bottom up inside the box, leaving all these sharp points. Of course I asked the dealer to correct it when rig was in for other warranty work. Of course they didn't. I removed the self tappers and drilled holes and replaced with round head bolts w/ lock nuts. Those self tappers were a pinhole accident just waiting to happen.

Ours is like that too They make a canvas-like sleeve for the hose that protects it. I wrote to Thetford asking about it and they sent me one free!

Good idea with the garden hose! Ours has a Sanicon and I have never used it because it won't reach my septic cleanout. So just been using 35ft of stinky slinky which is a bit of a pain and time consuming. I'm going to have to give that a try, thanks!

Make sure you get a garden hose that's at least 3/4 diameter.

I carry an extra section of hose for the Sanicon also. Every now and then we'll have a RV park with a weird setup where where the one hose can't reach. Another thing I wish Thetford would do is make an adapter that screws onto the end with a simple push in connection. There have been a few times where there have been no threads on the dump pipe, or threads all messed up or an obstruction which prevents you from fully turning the end to fully secure it.

I have been looking for an adapter and can't find anything. The only site we have camped out the drain was too big for the connector to screw in... we weren't sure what to get. We will be heading out for 2 months shortly and are at a loss.

Use this- It's tough rubber but soft enough to jam in place if the threads are messed up.

Keeps connection tight, and comes apart easily.
