Sooooo...... Is anyone as crazy as I am?

I want to relocate the 8k Generator and use the current generator location for solar equipment. I'd move the generator to the empty space between the frame rails which is approx 3-4' away from where it is now. I currently have my Solar set up on the driver side in the second cargo bay back.....just behind where the chassis batteries are.

My question is: Has anyone attempted this? Any recommendations on how to lift and secure the Generator on a skid that can drop down for service?

Background on me and my rig. My rig, Maximus, is a 2021 Seneca 37L that I bought new. I've already extensively rewired much of the RV for solar and my own needs and don't mind rewiring again. I've also already removed the Generator for repairs once solo and understand the weight that is involved there.

My ultimate ask is:

Sounds like a lot of work for little benefit….how much solar equipment are you talking about, it usually doesn’t take up much room. Do you have more than just solar equipment to move there? For best charge controller efficiency, it’s best to have the cable to the batteries as short as possible. I have all my system of inverter, breakers, battery solenoid, DC2DC charger and power in bus bars all mounted in the small compartment next to the battery compartment. For the solar chargers, breakers and junction bus bar, they are all mounted to a panel that mounts above the next compartment door on the outside wall, completely out of the way.

While it certainly can be done, a few things come to mind, service and working it being the main ones, while the units don't take much they do have to have the oil and coolant checked at a frequent rate. The idea of crawling under there to perform any checks or maintenance seems like something most people would not want to do, keep in mind you might want to sell the unit in the future and this type of alteration might have an impact on resale. Noise, heat and exhaust routing considerations are another concern, what effects would this location on have these items, maybe nothing but it needs to be examined. What type of equipment would be installing in the current location. I have all my electrical items in the first bay including three 200 amp lithium batteries and still have plenty of space for two more batteries and a couple charge controllers.
