Seneca Floor Bolts

Bolts

Same problem “just popped up” only 8,800 miles. Driving the 40 from Kingman to CA would test every bolt in the rig, worst road I have been on by far.
Shouldn’t be too hard to repair I just need to figure out the manufacture brand of the the LVT wood planks.

I have traveled all over the country and that is one of the worst stretches of road in North America! The Alaska Highway is now smoother than that, even Nova Scotia had better roads. I have taken that a few times in the winter to get back to Denver instead of having to go over the passes on 70 when they are getting snow dumped on them. After the last time, I swore that I would rather put chains and risk sliding off the pass to certain death than watch parts fall off the motorhome on 40.

Bolts

I found out this week that the bolts were not the only casualty. I now have a fluid leak at the rear axle (inside driver side) that is suspected to be a seal in the brake drum. It appears air brakes have some moving parts that are lubricanted and there are seals to contain the fluid. I don’t know exactly how yet or where the fluid is stored but my Seneca was leaking a clear hydraulic type fluid down the brake shoes and tire creating a 12” puddle in my driveway. 😮
It goes in for diagnostic and service next Thursday. I thought there was nothing to leak out with air brakes. 🙁
