Seneca Modifications

I have done several small mods-additions to my 2015 Seneca and decided to start a thread to share my ideas and perhaps pick-up on a few tricks you folks may have done to your rig.Starting from the front :

-full body oil treatment for rust
-Added an air horn
-Sunshade for the front cab (SunPro)
- CB
-Scan Guage
-Rubber spacers on hubcaps to prevent the crackling noise
-Tape on mirror brackets
-A label on dash beside airbrake button with height in feet and meters
-A plywood covered with carpet to cover the staircase hole inside while traveling
-Silicone on top of shower ( between shower body and wall )
-change bracket on emergeny window and added screen so now it can be opened
-Led fog lights in back to see better when backing up

Thats it now !

Not recommended, traps moisture between enclosure and wall and also won't let things flex.

I also felt sealing around the top of the shower was essential to keep the moisture from getting in there in the first place. It appeared that Jayco tried to caulk it but failed miserably. I have added about 10K miles to my unit since doing it, many of those miles on quite bumpy roads. No signs of flex-related issues. I get a lot of "splash" up there which otherwise would run behind the surround where I can't see it.

I'm almost embarrassed to describe my list of mods.......... You would all know I am nuts then. Dear wife is already convinced!

I cut 3/16 plywood for my compartment floors. Makes for a more stable compartment floor.
I had to run a silicone bead on the outside of the shower below the sliding doors, from wall to wall. No leaks now.
Installed a window (plexiglass) on top of the box under the bed so I can read the lights on my surge protector.
Changed the plumbing on the sewer drain pipe.
Added a shelf on the wall next to where my wife sleeps.
I also made a covering for the steps.

Seneca mods

I have completed the following:
1) Scan Guage D
2) Power door locks (Viper)
3) Air horn
4) Air supply line
5) Install E-Z oil drain valve (Engine and Gen Set)
6) CB
7) Outside TV mount change
8) TPMS
9) Electric brake controller
10) Gas prop for the bedroom bed.
11) Propane tank mod to allow for gas grill operation from onboard LP tank. Can fill onboard from portable tank as well.

And this forum is a great place to get great ideas. Thanks to everyone.

Still waiting to hear when the the console will be ready for purchase.

It is really close. I got slowed down making some upgrades to the design and waiting on some suppliers that never came through but the pieces are finally being fabricated as we speak.

Dave, what kind of antenna dld you use for the CB? What brand, and length did you use for the gas strut? Two struts? Thanks

I've added:
1) Freightliner driving lights in the bumper
2) Freightliner mud flaps
3) Extra towel hooks in the bathroom
4) Truck bed liner for the battery tray
5) Locks to the two big drawers under the stove so they don't come out while traveling
6) Freightliner floor mats in the cab
7) Quick connect to the propane tank for my Camp Chef grill
8) Spare tire and carrier behind the rear axle
9) Extra 12v accessory outlet to the dash for my RVi Brake unit to plug into and an on/off switch to power it off without unplugging it

I would like to learn more about adding:
1) CB - where did you pull the power from? There's pos/neg connectors behind the dash for accessories, right? The antenna that comes with the rig is dual purpose. How's it work for the CB?
2) Gas strut for the bed. Need to know what you used.
3) TPMS

2013 Seneca Mods

Below is a list of many of the mods we have made to our 2013 Seneca in which we live fulltime:

The gas strut was one I bought from the auto parts store. I think it was 22 inch. I just needed it to raise and hold the bed enough so I could get to our supplies. The strut (1) is very powerful so I had to install a latch to hold it down.


Used a Fire stick ant. for my cb 4ft. I do not use the sat ant. on the drivers door, removed it.

The rubber mat covering on my entry steps didn't last for any length of time. The rubber edge broke down, and tore into. Jayco sent replacement rubber covering. First thing I noticed when I removed the old covering, was the so called adhesive used at the factory. The adhesive looked more like petroleum jelly, and had no adherence at all. I cleaned everything up, and installed the new rubber steps with good adhesive. I then placed aluminum protective angle strips on each edge of the steps. This should keep the edges protected, and it looks much better than before.

I am interested in seeing and hearing more about how you added the air horn, tape on the mirror bracket and how you mounted and wired the LED backup lights. Putting the rubber spacers on the hubcaps I never heard before...need more info please.

First thing I noticed when I removed the old covering, was the so called adhesive used at the factory. The adhesive looked more like petroleum jelly, and had no adherence at all.

Yuck! That 'adhesive' is nasty stuff. We had the same problem with ours. It was a super sticky slimy mess. Previous owner tried screws which didn't work. I made up some aluminum treadplate pieces that work really well. I'm not normally into 'blingy' stuff but I kinda like this look.

I have enough material left over if anyone else wants a set. I had to buy a big sheet.
