Decided to finally do something about the tiny nightstand tops, got tired of waking up to everything on the floor being the LG top material is already discontinued by the manufacture, I just used some Formica brand material I had laying around. Forgot how much I dislike working with Solid Surface but oh well, it’s worth it. I also added a USB port to each nightstand for our phones.

I haven’t wired them yet but I checked the 12v side of the converter and there are 2 open spots I can wire to and being it’s under the bed, it should be pretty easy.

That is a great one... We only have one nightstand and it is not on the slide.

We use our headboard shelf instead, Phones charge there along with all the other stuff that might end up on the nightstand. I put power in the upper cabinets that power a few 12v chargers, fans and other things the nightstand might require.

Finally finished my compartment that I keep all my outdoor cooking stuff. It was always an hard area to set up as it’s an RB and the front Gray tank hangs down into this area. Went through several design changes but happy with this one. It holds our Blackstone Griddle, Blackstone stand, utinsels, supplies and Weber BBQ mount. One drawer holds all my flag pole stuff. The drawers are a touch release guide that you push in a little and it pops the drawer outa couple inches. I also added Hot/Cold water outlet with removable flex spout.

beautiful work as always rustynuts.

This is my prototype I built this summer when we picked up an induction stove top. I am going to rebild it this winter to make the center drawer full extension and possibly add a counter top cover that I can use to put the stove top on. Also need to find a location for a faucet and possibly a sink basin in one of the other bays i think that is a great idea for the passenger side. I always need to run into the kitchen to grab water.

Looks good! Doing things like this sure make things a lot handier and organized instead of digging through totes or boxes. It was not hard to bring the water down into this area, our 1/2 bath is right above this compartment and once I removed the base in the vanity cabinet, it was just a matter of cutting the pex, installing tee's and dropping down through the existing hole the main lines came up at. I installed 1/4 turn shut off valves on each line and then connected the faucet up with 5' braided supply lines. You can see the valves in the top of this pic. I though about building in a small sink but the water is mainly for cooking, rinsing off a dropped utensil or defending my position with the squirtgun I ordered one of these instead and being the water spout is flexible, I can pull out a drawer and sit this on it if I need to for any reason.

I have never likes that wire loom that hangs down in the under bed storage area that move in and out with the slide and we have had it get caught on items we store down there. So while I was adding even more wire that moves with the slide for the USB ports Input in the new nightstand tops, I ran the wires in cable/wire carrier chain. Now if something is in the way, the chain will just walk up over it.

Made a little modification to the rear slide bed base. Didnt like how the slide controls, slide and awning lockout relays and circuit breaker are all buried under the bed so if you have a rear slide issue, you have to tear the bed apart to get to them. I addd an access panel and moved all these components to a new board mounted behind then access panel so they are all easy to get to. It’s hard to believe they mount all this in an unaccessible location.

Battery area wiring

Unfortunately on my TS my slideout relay boards and their fuses are under my wardrobe behind/below the drawers there. Nowhere to move them to make them accessible, so I would just have to unscrew the bed platform hinge if I have an issue. But fortunately my Power Gear slideouts seem less troublesome than the later Schwintek mechanisms, so far anyway!

I did tackle another project on my list today, I organized some of the 12-volt wiring in my coach battery compartment. In addition to being a confusing rat's nest of wires, it sometimes would get tangled when I would slide out the battery tray. I also was having some intermittent connection issues causing erroneous battery voltage reading to my generator's automatic start controller. Jayco had done a very poor job on the wire crimps and used ancient inline glass fuses on that generator auto-start harness. Since that area is exposed somewhat to the elements, corrosion had taken a toll.

To eliminate those glass fuses I purchased a 6-position marine fuse block and rerouted the pertinent circuits to and from my new fuse holder. I also made sure all the wiring was tucked in close to the wall so it won't get tangled in the main battery cables when the battery tray goes in and out.

And I also had to replace my Battery Isolation Module, on my last trip I noticed that I was not charging my house batteries while driving, and my chassis batteries were not being charged when parked and plugged in. A quick call to Precision Circuits and two days later I had a new one! It is the "new" design but installed easily. This new version no longer uses a generator "run sense" connection, so now I have an extra wire with nowhere to call home!

Looks good, every time I’m in m battery compartment I say I need to tackle that. I have already had to crimp on new terminals that were loose. I have also started replacing all those crappy blue scotch lock ta connectors the use everywhere with either crimp terminals or Wago compact spice connectors which I really like. Next up is putting quality Accuride drawer guides in to replace the ones that have already broke....

Modifications:

• Moved the bedroom slide controller to the front of the under bed box so I could get to the motor cables in case of the slide stuck out.
• Added inclines to the bed to simulate a reclined bed.
• Added a wireframe under the bed mattress to keep the bed from sliding ...
• Added $40 battery monitor. [love this upgrade]
• Added a screen door opener that operates from inside without having to pull the sliding cover back.
  Replaced the coach fender treads (adhesive gave way and tread ripped) with rubber treads from HF.

Relocation of slide controller in Greyhawk 26Y

I also relocated my slide controller.
The slide controller is covered up when the slide is pulled in. This means that if you have to manually push the slide in, the motor controller which you need to access is covered up. DOH!
Also, you cannot see the controllers panel and cannot read the status lights or get to the controls.
Clearly, no thought was given to failure modes in this design.
I brought this to Jayco's attention and their solution was to disassemble the beds upper trim and get to the motor cables that way...

I also found out that my inverter was in this box. The installed inverter is a nice unit with a useful current display and a usb plug etc. However, it's buried under the bed with no access.
I could not figure out a way to move that unit for access

The wiring in this RV is atrocious. In almost every area there is a harness, I have added restraints that keep wires from chafing against metal parts and sharp wood edges.
I guess that Jayco's philosophy is that there are no extra points for neatness.

We all know that by the time this wiring is damaged from vibration etc the warranty will be up!

Where did you get that nice bezel and door that you used?

I clean up and secure the wiring the best I can without having to totally redo it. I have probably eliminated 100’ of excess wire so far and gone through a couple hundred zip ties. I hav also started replacing all the cheap Scotch Lock type connectors with either crimp connections or Wago compact connectors.

I got the cover off Amazon, it only comes in white but just sprayed it with Krylon for plastics, Satin Black.

On our 2016 HJ the bedroom window on the passenger side is the emergency exit.
I posted the modification I did to prop the bottom part of the window open with an interior screen. Scroll up for the pictures.

Did you make up a wiring diagram? I do not any documentation from Jayco.
If you have something it would be place for me to start.
I have a 2016 HJ and want to clean up the wiring in the battery compartment.
