SiriusXM External Antenna

We have our camper parked year round on our land. In our current camper, I have one of those small (magnet mount) antennas on the camper, wire running down the side, underneath and then up into the cabinet.

With the next camper, it'll have the glacier package, so I don't want to punch a hole in it and Jayco wouldn't mount an antenna on the camper for me so today I saw this -

My thoughts was to mount this to the power post on my land, run the cable into the camper via the "cable tv" input on the side and into the XM radio. And still being able to use the TV antenna on the camper for the TV.

Has anyone here tried that antenna and idea yet?

I've never seen this antenna and great idea! So sense mounting on your Jayco if you keep it there year round.

If you have any data coverage, use the SiriusXM app and stream any channel to your radio, or a blue tooth speaker.

I used the small 1" square antenna for cars. It has long small gauge wire. I Velcro'd it to the roof outside the nearest window. I ran the tiny wire in through the window, along the molding on ceiling to the Sirius/XM radio. Works great! I leave it attached all season long.

I did this this 2 trailers ago. You have to split off of the cable line before the antenna booster which is in the wall. I put a splitter in the wall and fished a line down under the table the Sirius radio would sit on. After that it worked great.

Good call on the splitter before the booster. I'll have to wait until my camper is built and delivered so I can figure out where the splitter is located.

That's a good idea too, but I like to keep my phone in my pocket...especially when I'm out cutting wood. And our data coverage is pretty weak where our land is at.

The antenna booster will muck up your signal even when turned off.. don't ask me how I know.. The glacier package is no real big deal.. so I would just go through the wall with the usual attention to making sure you have it sealed afterwards.

FWIW, I have a 2016 28RLS and the entertainment unit sits just outside the bathroom and shares a wall with the bathroom. I realized it was about 2 feet from that wall to the roof vent. I drilled a small hole from inside the entertainment unit up through the ceiling. I removed the inside part of the vent to gain access to the space in the ceiling then I fished the antenna cable through that hole and through the ceiling over the the vent in the bathroom. I was going to go out the vent and epoxy (or use silicone) the antenna to the roof just outside the vent. But then I realized the bar across the vent that holds the fan was metal and magnetic (I'm using the car antenna). So I clicked it on there and I get all 3 bars. No muss, no fuss and I didn't have to drill any holes to the outside!

Good idea! I plan on adding an exterior antenna myself. I'll have to rethink my plan and copy this idea. Thanks!

When I did mine I went down the same access hole for the roof mounted auto sat dish.. Mounted the antenna on the roof behind a vent cover.. works great and no leaks ...
