Six Flags over Georgia - Which campsite in the area is best?

I'm not aware of anything good particularly close. I live just a few miles from the park, but I haven't really stayed too close to home while camping. The immediate area around six flags is pretty sketchy and the closest rv campground I know of is Atlanta West Campground, which looks absolutely horrible. I am a big fan of the Georgia State Parks and there are some close-ish. Red Top Mountain and Chattahoochee Bend are probably the closest, but still a bit of a drive. I've heard there are some good parks out west on I20, but I am unfamiliar. Maybe this one? Little Tallapoosa Park - Carrollton, GA - RV Park Reviews It's 30 miles, but should be an easy drive on I20...

My son lives in Vinings Ga and works in Douglas, Carroll and Haralson Counties. He told me that the campgrounds on the est side of Atlanta leave a lot to be desired. He did say there is a Yogi Bear Jellystone in Bremen GA that looks like one of the better ones in the area. I checked Google maps and it is a straight shot down I-20 for about 40 miles.

Like others said, there is Stone Mountain on the east side of Atlanta and then some north of Atlanta near Allatoona Lake.

I ended up staying at Stone Mountain Campground. Very nice and reasonably priced. Not a bad drive to Six Flags or the water park, but those Atlanta drivers are crazy!

Camping suggestions

Lifelong residents of Atlanta..,,until tomorrow that is when we leave for NC. You are looking at hour plus commutes each way from Stone Mountain to six flags on a good day. There are very few good traffic days around Atlanta. Beside commute safety is a big consideration. Not that it's a much better commute but red top mountain state park , Allatoona landing or any of the Coe places on lake Allatoona would be preferable. If you are active or retired military you can stay at the navy site on lake Allatoona. Decent sites and only $16 per night for w/e.

I stay at the yogi bear Jellystone in Bremem Ga. great park for kids big pool and great price.easy on easy off I 20.
