Slide Topper Question

I will be ordering 3 Lippert Solera toppers in the near future and wondering about length. Should we stick with ones that are the actual length of the slide (edge to edge of frame) or go 6" longer? An example is one slide is exactly 12ft and they have a 12' topper, but also a 12 1/2' one. The extra fabric would be nice, assuming it would mount ok. Thanks for any help or advice. It's a fairly large expense for 3 of them and don't want to screw up the order.

The 2 that I ordered were the next width up from the actual slide width.

No installation issues? I wasn't sure if the brackets that mount to the slide would be too wide.

No, the brackets are designed to give a lot of width adjustment. The only "issue" is/was the wardrobe slide. The facia of this slide is 6" wide instead of the standard 4" width facia. I modified the brackets for this slide.

I cant seem to find the original thread concerning slide topper install. I have several pictures there of my install and the modified brackets for the wardrobe slide.

As I mentioned before … make sure you email Jayco to get the structural schematics for the slides. The schematics will show where the backing plates are located.

My slide toppers overhang my slide roof by 2'' on each side. I have the Carefree brand of topper bracket hardware which are adjustable to different widths. I purchased Solera fabric for replacement and for it being a Lippert product, I'm very pleased with it.

Found the pics of the bracket install. You can see where I modified the wardrobe bracket.

The first pic is the wardrobe bracket. I know I have seen, on this site, pics of factory install where the wardrobe bracket was not modified.

Make sure you get actual width, my cousin ordered one and the material
was cut to specified length but when seamed it came up about 6 inches shorter than the old one.
She was fiery mad because her and her husband installed it.

Do you know what brand that was? The Solera brand gives width of the material and the complete assembly with brackets.

I know this is an old thread, but want to do the same thing with our 2017 27.5RKDS and concerned about the wide flange on wardrobe slide. Is that needed to get the roll above the flange? The RecPro drawing I have seen shows 8" from bottom of bracket to top of roll. Could you have mounted to the bottom edge of the flange without the double spacer?

Wish I could help, but I never did get the toppers and sold our Jayco a few months later. I always had cold feet about drilling holes in the sides so was too chicken to order them. Hopefully someone else will chime in.
