Hello all,

We have a 2005 Jayco Greyhawk 26' with a slide-out. last weeked while camping it rained pretty hard and we ended up with a leak for the first time.
I'm not sure where to even start to look for the source of the problem.

Anybody got any tips or advice?

thanks!

Welcome to the Jayco Owners Forum Gatekeeper. Sorry to hear about the slideout leak. I'm sure members can share their experiences but can ya post where you see/notice the water? :)

Check the integrity of all the slideout seals first, they can deteriorate and crack/shrink over time and could need replacement. Also check the sealants/tape on the roof of the slideout. Finally check the sealants on the entire roof and windows.

Where is it leaking from? Sometimes it hard to tell but How did you notice it? If your ouside seals around slides are in need of replacement wind driven rain can come inside the TT. Have you been applying Slide-Out Rubber Seal Treatment in a can to protect the seals?

thanks guys, i first noticed the leak with the slide out deployed.......water had collected on the flat top surface of the slide out.......it happened after a windy rain-storm......have not been using the seal treatment ...will look into that!.....we're novices at this stuff.....

The wind could have pushed in the rain with marginal seals, especially if your MH was out of level, the high side being the slide side of the coach.

I would suggest adding a slide topper - the overhead shade roller type device. This will reduce the water and debris collecting on the slide and can protect the seals.

Also and this might seem strange but keep the entire flat surface (all three sides) of the slide out where the seal touches it waxed to keep the friction at a minimum.
