Slideouts function related to hitching

So, with all the jive with this BMP controller, how do you get your slide out with out unhitching. The dealer says unplug from the truck, but we tried that today and had to get unhitched to get the slide out to put the groceries away. However, the first nite we had it we pulled in and got the slides out w/o unhitching. I just don't recall if I `unplugged from the truck before I put the shore power to it.

What model RV do you have? My cousin has an Eagle 5th wheel and they have to drop the front legs just a little bit to get their slides to work while hooked up to their truck. I thought she was crazy until she showed me....
