Hi all. I am super stoked about getting my first camper. I have wanted a camper for many years and finally had the opportunity to buy one. I am getting my 2024 Jay Flight 260BH delivered next week. My wife and I are looking to be able to give the kids many years of good family memories. We went tent camping and it was the deciding factor for buying a camper with all the comforts of home.

I looked at one in a showroom of a dealer and it's a lot of camper for the money .The Slx models do not come with thr Goodyear Endurance tires though. So "suggest "that they include those on the camper as part of that package price before you sign. I am sure they will balk, but at this point in time when the 2025 models are hitting the lot, it's worth a try. But you do not want the foreign ones that comes on the SLX models

Congratulations. It's very exciting kids...but I won't tell anyone that I know YOU are more excited than the kids.

Have great fun. Check it out really well during your walk-through and stay on top of the problems that might pop up along the way, as you work out the bugs.

#1. Tip. do not put a drop of water into the system before going through the unit and checking all the threaded water feeds into the faucets for tightness. In the access space behind the outdoor shower, check its water feed lines, too and the threaded connections of the drain plumbing on the sinks and under the shower pan (access space)

Once you do put water in it, have your access spaces open. feel for and watch for water leaking. I bought 5 water alarms and placed them in the spaces. They were my eyes and ears. Within 5 minutes they alerted me to a leak behind an access panel.

Ditto on sink drains and threaded parts that's just put together and folks move along,, Always carry what we know as half inch caulking to correct misalignment parts. This is our sink drain that was glued up completely misaligned . This caused the plumber seal rings to not seat correctly. Short of cutting everything up and starting over, carry caulking that cures solid to correct the problem

We just bought the 260 BH SLX a couple weeks ago. Been camping once so far. I tow with a midsize truck so the 260BH weights 4710 lbs, so far it towed great. The AC will freeze you if you like it cold. The 12 volt fridge was cold in 20 minutes so by the time I finished setting up it was cold. I do want to add the backup camera, the dealer wanted to much for it so I get one off Amazon. For the price, I don’t think you can beat it!

Congratulations on the new camper, we are picking up a 25 model on this coming Monday and are super excited. We are currently camping in a Wolf Pup.

We have been camping 4-5 times. So far so good. The only problem is the battery is too small and will die quick, 2-3 days and it’s dead. I’m going to add a kill switch but until then, I unhook it when we get home. Everything else has been great. AC work fantastic, this past weekend we needed the heat. It worked great too. We had to lower the temperature to 68. The air coming from the furnace is really warm and it doesn’t take much to have it toasty in there.

We have the same battery issue, I leave mine plugged in to 110V and keep the fridge on through the summer, use it occasionally as a guest room too. Just no AC or microwave with the long extension cord.

I have the ability to have it plugged into 30amp when at home. When we know we will be using it for a while I leave it unplugged and everything off. Yes the battery is dead within the week. Mine came with the battery cut off switch but I dont think it cuts anything off.
This past weekend I saw someone that had a small solar panel connected to it as a trickle charger. I am looking into that

TMTEX…… I’m interested in the solar panel you mention being used as a trickle charger. I have a 12volt electric only fridge and one deep cell battery for everything. Where or what website are finding this set up?

This is what I am talking about but this is a lot more than I want to spend. There are several on amazon

I don't think that panel will do much, the Wolf Pup that we just came out of had a 50 or 100 amp solar panel on it and it would not maintain the battery with just the 12v fridge on. I'd run at least a 15/20 amp cord to it just to keep the battery and the fridge going.
Since we camp with electric hookups and I'm swapping my lithium battery over to our new 260 bh I really don't see the need for solar.

This would be dedicated strickly to the battery only when its not plugged into shore power. Now I am not looking to spend 100+ for that and some research I have seen has shown the battery blown up from the amazon models, so may rethink the idea

A 7.5 watt solar panel does nothing for most of the self contained rv batteries. A lot of people do not realize that even when these campers are sitting idle, the battery needs some small amount of charge. A wet cell or flooded battery will not do well if you repeatedly allow them to go dead. If you do use an extension cord to maintain your battery thru the converter, make sure you use at least the yellow ones with 12/3 wire size.
