StarLink - Roam Plan

Our home was not an on the go standard one it was articulating. So I bought a standard and have to separate plans and then pause the on the go when we are not using it. I’m the Rv we just use wifi that comes with the system and have had no problem

When I signed up, a few years ago, you could not have multiple dishes on one account. I *think* that's changed.

We had to use a different email when got our second one a year ago but this roam one is on the same account so they must of changed it

Just got Roam 50 GB for our MH. First day using it for work -- only used 1.07 for office work w/ no meetings today. Not letting any TVs or mobile phones connect to it so that I don't eat the bandwidth. Thankfully current location has good cell signal, so phones are feeding Roku TVs for entertainment. At this rate, it seems i'd be able to use the 50GB for the entire month for just one office worker and nothing else hooked up to it.

It's pretty sweet! Got the mini up on the RV roof w/ no obstructions today.

Does anyone know if you can have 2 dishes on one account? Looking at getting the unlimited roam but will be used at home most of the time and when we go camping 3-6 times a year. Would like to mount the dish on the roof at home and have a separate dish for the camper.

Yes you can. They just have to have separate plans. We have one for the house and one for the RV.

We have the residential plan for the Home Statlink and use the Roam plan for the RV.

We have two star link plans on one account . A home one and a mobile plan in the RV

Yes, as stated, you can have multiple subscriptions and manage them through the web.

We've been traveling (rving) for 7ish days each month for the past 2 years and have been pretty lucky with campground wifi and not needing to resort to Starlink. I'm a remote worker and need good internet while we are traveling. This last trip though caused me to rethink the SL need due to absolutely LOUSEY connectivity and I bit the bullet and got a SL Mini for when we are on the road. I'll determine if I need more than the 50G I initially signed up for after this next trip.

We found the 50GB plan good for about 3 days of streaming TV and movies a couple hours during the day and at night for 4 hours and using it for 2 phones for web browsing etc. We actually used 55GB according to SL but we didn't opt for any overage GBs.

So 50GB is good for 3 day weekend trips which is good.

Does having 2 plans mean you have a separate dish for home paying the going price for the home plan and having a separate dish with the roam plan and paying the going price for that plan? Or are there additional savings for this?

I am wanting the unlimited roam plan but having a permanently mounted dish on the house and a separate dish for the rv on the same plan, understanding the need for an additional router in the rv. Is this doable?

Yes. Each dish has its own plan.

The Mini has a base 50 gig plan, but you can opt in for overage data, so you might be paying as much as a standard plan for this dish in theory. The good news is that you can park the dish month by month. For me, this means I park the dish (no service and no bill) for about 5 months each year.

I pay $120 a month for the Starlink we use at the house. Its mounted on our roof.

As mentioned, you can suspend service on a ROAM plan, so for our Starlink in the RV I will pay for service - $50.00 for 50GB or $160 for unlimited on the ROAM plan depending on how long we will be gone.

If you opt for the ROAM UNLIMITED plan be sure you go in and pause it after activating it - otherwise if you forget they will bill you automatically for the next month and if you do not need it and they do not refund.

If you have a Starlink kit and you opt for the HOME plan you can not travel with that setup - its locked in to your home address and it can not be changed to ROAM if I am not mistaken(could be wrong).

If we did not need internet at home all the time I would have just bought one setup on the ROAM plan and used it both at home and in the RV.

FYI, we opted for the 50GB roam plan for May, plus $1/GB additional service, after trying the unlimited plan for March. We paused it for April. It looks like it takes about 1 GB per hour of streaming TV.

Several evenings, my wife was watching one TV, and I was watching another. We also use the timer feature to turn off the TV when we go to bed. After 17 nights use in May, we paid an additional $16 over the initial $50. This was a nice savings over the $165 unlimited.

We used 55GB in 3 days last trip...which is 18GB a day. That might be a little high as the couple that went with us had their TV jump on our Starlink( sometimes we take turns buying unlimited and share internet) accidentally for about 12 hours and they leave the TV on for the dogs when they are gone.

We are going to YellowStone at the end of August, so maybe 8 days of internet use, I am going to say 13GB per day(which may be high) would be $104.00 using the roam and just paying the overage.

That may be the better route! Now we used the 55Gb I had not opted for paying the $1 per GB overage so I am surprised it didn't cut us off?

also, you save when you pause and turn it back on before your trip. Especially if you are near the end of your billing cycling. For example, if you are have way through your billing period and un-pause, your plan cost ~half of the full month. I turned it on for my weekend get-a-way and it was $39 for the 50Gb Roam plan.

Your plan seems different than mine. If my plan starts on the 2nd of the month, and I pause it on the third, I get charged for a for a full month, and service is paused starting the 2nd of next month.
