Stepping into TT's

After spending three weeks in a Coleman 20', me and the wife have decided to get a TT. We learned alot, wants vs needs vs must haves, and decided on something with a BH, u-shaped dinette, BW & GW discharge a little higher than a Coleman (story for another day) and something with slides so two people can stand next to each other. Having looked at KZ, Keystone, Arctic Fox and Jayco dealers between Idaho and Texas, we have decided on either the White Hawk 30DSQB or the 31DSLB. This gives us the room for 2 kids, a dog and place to get out of the summer heat without being on top of each other.

Looking for any information concerning trouble areas, words of advice for what to look at during our walk through, warranty issues etc. We plan on buying in about three months or so, wouldn't want to be in a hurry, and more than likely use a local dealer with a campsite close by for our maiden voyage.

I have already started a checklist, helps to have borrowed a TT, and will download the ones I found on this and other sites.

My DW and I started in a 20' coleman as well. We moved up to a 23 mbh. One question I have is what is your tow vehicle?

2011 Ram 3500 with Cummins and 3.42 gears. Will be running the Blue Ox sway control/load leveler, it's one I already use on my enclosed trailer.

With a truck like that you can tow just about anything you want. The 'wants' and 'needs' are things you and your wife will need to sort out. Look at the purchase as something you will keep for several years and get what is most important to both of you. A lot of people get a trailer and find that it would be nice to have one just a few feet longer.

I think both units would be good choices. You're smart to look at more beds than you have people. Kids will want friends to come along. With a trailer full of kids, that outside entrance to the bathroom on the 31DSLB might come in real handy. JMHO!

I have a 31dslb, great trailer. I would consider the jayflight 32BHDS with the towing capacity you have. The outside kitchen is nicer than the one on the white hawk. The bunk house is also bigger. Otherwise they are very similar layouts.

Would also recommend a 32BHDS, especially over the white hawk. Lots of room in the BH with an extra bunk for a friend. Not much if a difference in price or weight but you'll get a lot more for your money.

You're right to focus on Jayco - we also looked at KV and Keystone and the quality and workmanship of Jayco is much better
