Suburban Stove Model SDN2U - One burner works and the other burner will not stay lit

I have a brand new 2025 Jayco Jay Flight SLX 170FQ. Didn't get the dealer to test the stove for me before leaving the lot. Dewinterized it yesterday and decided to test the two stove top burners. The one at the front near the two control knobs lites and stays lit. The rear one will lite without issue but goes out when I let off the control knob. Followed the manufacturer's instructions and turned off the propane for 5 minutes before trying again. Actually, I tried again an hour or so later with the same results. Looked at a parts breakout for this stove and there doesn't seem to be too much to it. Thought I would lift the stove top off to take a peak but wasn't exactly sure how to remove the two control knobs. I think you have to lift up on them firmly; but didn't want to break anything not knowing for sure as it is still under warranty. Any suggestions or is this one I need to reach out to the dealer about?

I would let your dealer diagnose and fix it. Propane appliances aren't rocket science but should be serviced by a professional tech that's familiar with them. It could be anything from debris in the jet to a defective control. Be safe.

With it off and cold get a strong light and look at all the little holes. If you can safely pull it apart like you would for cleaning check that everything looks clean and comparable to the one that works. May be as simple as manufacturing trash in the works. It may also be in the knob mechanism. Sorry you didn't catch it while still at the initial walk through.

Thanks for the advice. I've got a service appointment set up for two weeks from yesterday. I will check out the holes on the burner assembly too. Either way, I'm sure you are curious as to the fix and will follow up with what it was when I find out. To do things really right when you pick up a new travel trailer, you really have to go in with the mindset ahead of time to have the dealer test everything to your satisfaction. Using a checklist would help. Well, that's life. Live and learn.

I just took my 2025 Jayco Jay Flight on its first ever trip. Same stove as yours and have the same issue but with both burners! Placed a small cutting board on the knobs and added a half gallon jug on top just to cook! Grrrr
What did you find out??

I will not find out until I take it to the dealer next Monday. I bet you were "not happy" to say the least. Will be sure to post the results here when I find out.

No, I was beyond irritated. Now I am wondering how long it would be in the shop as I plan on camping a couple of times a month. Please let me know how your experience is.

Here is my opinion, based on experience and reading posts here and elsewhere. If you can, fix it yourself. There seems no urgency or responsibility in getting a repair done in a timely manner. Once they have the money the RV is yours. If you don't detect a problem at the walk through and pay the dealer they don't seem to be in a hurry.
That's why this forum is so great. You can get the help to do much yourself!

Turns out my stove needs two parts to fix it. The dealer is waiting on the parts. It is a warranty fix. After they fix it, I'll list the parts they replaced. I remember reading advice from others "after the fact" about having "everything" checked on your RV before taking possession of it. Well, now I understand why. I would add to that suggestion by telling someone to make a detailed check list to follow and take it with you to the dealer. That way, you don't forget anything and you don't get rushed through the process. Live and learn. I've found information online about connecting your propane tank line to a propane stove; but nothing about how to determine which part or parts of my specific stove needs replacing.

We actually have a "sticky" post in the General Jayco RV Chat forum that can be printed off and taken with you to the PDI. Along with that I always recommend taking notes, photos an even phone videos of the process to refer to at a later time as it's a ton of information to process all at once. You aren't the first to have a less than stellar PDI experience and won't be the last. There are many many posts here over the years from members in the same club.

PDI (Pre-delivery Inspection for purchasing RV's) Checklist with bullets - updated

I've advised folks here, that hadn't picked their RV up yet, to take their time on the orientation. It's THE single most important stage of ownership and shouldn't be rushed through. You only get to do it once, it should not cost extra, and questions should be answered to your satisfaction so when you are out enjoying your trips, you're prepared for whatever glitch comes up so there's no stress, or at least very little.

We really hope you have a ton of fun and memories with your new Jay Flight, and we're all here to help with questions that may arise. Happy Trails!
