Sudden power loss

When running AC (plugged into 30A power at campground with surge protector), suddenly it shut off along with fridge & microwave. No outlets working but lights ok because we’re using house battery. Fridge now on propane.
We have turned off & on breakers, turned breakers off for power loss appliances & let stand for a few, pressed TEST button ( but nothing pops out), reset shore power, reset house main power, still no appliance power. Generator test worked at home so no reason to think it won’t power anything. Will test again in morning.
Plan on having it serviced.
Any ideas out there?
Thanks,
Kathleen

There may be a problem with the power pedestal, or maybe your surge protector. Some surge devices are a one shot hit, then they have to be replaced, unlike an EMS. Some testing with a voltmeter is in order but be safe.

Ok …. A neighbor was nice enough to stop by. Found 2 burned connections in 5100 Series Automatic Transfer Relay. Ouch!! How would I trace it to find cause? Will shop around for replacement.

Cause was probably the same as most, a loose connection. Them along with the connections in the breaker panel need to be checked for tightness on a regular basis. You are bouncing and vibrating them every time you go down the road.

As Grumpy mentioned a common cause is a loose connection. Also, a common cause is connecting the RV to shore power with items such as the electric water heater and\or the Air Conditioner turned on prior to connecting (really any large electrical load). To prevent this possibility be sure everything is turned off prior to connecting to shore power (as well as when disconnecting). ~CA

It was loose connection as they said. Loose connections start arcing slightly causing heat. The longer it goes arcing, the more resistance it creates and the more heat it makes. Good call Grumpy!
