I have the new "improved" Pullrite Superglide Hitch - the kind with the plastic pads with which Pullrite says to use WD40 as a lubricant. I agree that WD40 works well, in this application, to lube the plastic and the rails. It also seems to cause the metal rails to resist forming rust when wet, at least for a while.
But, even if the rails are cleaned up and fresh WD40 applied, the rails will rust, and fairly quickly. Has anybody found a solution to this rusting? Maybe using a grease or much thicker oil when the hitch is exposed to the weather, but is not in active use?
