I'm in the process of making removable plexiglass rear & front windows for my Hybrid. I camp mostly in the spring & fall when the temp. is cooler and windier but still sunny. Many of my favorite spots in Oregon & California have great views of the ocean, lakes & mountans out the front and/rear so now I should be able to unzip the canvas ends and take in those great views and be protected from the weather. My templet size for a perfect fit is 68" x 28-3/4" and Lowe's sells plexiglass 36"x 72" so I have a solid piece for each end. My plan( the first one) will be to use Velcro on the top and two sides, the bottom just tucks in between the screen and the canvas.

You might look at paneling J trim to cover the edges. Even factory cut edges are a bit sharp to put against canvas.

Good idea for the bottom edge and it should give it a little more strength, white duck tape for the curved edge. I plan on cutting it with my RotoZip.

Got it cut with the RotoZip & sanded the edges and rounded everything off. If I took off all the protective film you wouldn't be able to see what I did. Next step is Velcro and felt so off to the hardware store.

Done, it went very well and I only used white Velcro along the top because the bottom corners sit in a pocket so the window doesn't move. Total time was about 2-1/2 hrs. Next week I'll make one for the front. You can fold up the end and leave the window in place.

Nice job! Unfortunately for us mornings aren't the cool here so opening the windows is just fine, but this is a great idea.

Thank You and to stow it if it's hot I just flip up one side of the mattress and lay down the glass flip the mattress down and I'm good.

I always thought the "only solid" ends was dumb. I'd love to see out quite often. It would have been fairly simple to put a clear plastic middle layer on the ends or sides. My dogs tear stuff apart until they can see us. I have to leave a zipper partway down no matter the temp outside so they don't destroy things or bark too much.

This past October on the Oregon coast and even thou the temp was in the 50s with an ocean breeze we were warm and had a great view. We just pulled in so the beds were not made yet. This was at Brookings, Or. down past the Marina.

Love it. Went to Lowes and saw they wanted $75 per sheet, so I thought I'd experiment first. Went to WalMart and bought a clear plastic table top cover for $5. Cut it to fit two windows. Not as clear as yours but serviceable. Even added some darkening film to one that I had leftover from the box windows. I'll upgrade to plexi at some point.
