Thanks tab

How come the "Thanks" button only shows up in my posts? I like to receive gratitude but when it comes from myself it is meaningless.

I would prefer to see the "Thanks" tab on other peoples posts so I can thank them for meaningful replies and information.

I have not figured this one out yet either. I`m sure admin will look into it. When I click on thanks it says I have received 10 Thanks but have no clue who thanked me, if anyone.

We're still tweaking this feature but here's how the thanks button works.

If you like a post or have a positive comment to make to the poster, you can click on the thanks button. A comment box will pop up and you can enter text or opt to leave it blank.

The member receiving the thanks can view it via their user cp, just under the list of subscribed threads. The comments will be displayed as well as the date, name of person leaving the comment and a link to the post referenced in the comment.

Only the most recent comments are displayed. There are no prizes, swag or any other kind of forum favors that can be traded for thanks. It's just for fun and to help cut down on the number of one liner posts. This is another way to show approval.

If you don't want to receive the PM notice associated with a Thank You, you can disable that option in your user cp (edit options).

Bottom middle next to edit, unless yours is not showing up. Some members just started seeing it today.

So is the Thanks tab only supposed to show up on the first post in a thread or on every reply? On the F150 forum (powered by V-bulletin) each reply to every post has a thanks button so you can give an "Amen Brother" to any helpful comment, not just the OP.

I think that would be a nice feature as you could show support or agreement for anyones input to a thread.

The thanks button should display on every post. it's intended as a nice way to thanks someone for an especially nice post, even if yuu don;t have something to contribute on the discussion thread.

If you like the thread you can use the rating system (stars at the top of the thread)


it's worth noting that the thanks feature is customized for this forum and so may not function as similar features do on other forums.

Strange, I'm still only seeing the tab on my own replies to threads. I'm using Google Chrome and maybe I'll try restarting my computer, logging into the forum and see it it's any different. If nothing changes I'll just give the thread 4 stars if it's a good one.

x2. I'm using Firefox and have rebooted, but it didn't make a difference

nambarc is seeing the Thanks tab on Explorer, Crabman on Chrome. Same computer.

It's there now and appears to be working as I was able to send to Janet. Site looks great and keeps getting better with all the tweaks.

Me too. Logged out last night, restarted the computer, logged back in this AM and now every reply in a thread has a thanks button.
