Since we haven't been camping in almost three months, we're having serious withdrawals. My wife and I talk every day about how bad we want to get away but between work and the frigid temps lately, it just doesn't make sense. But we still talk about it a lot.

I'm not into premonitions or anything like that. But lately, I've had these "flashbacks" pop into my head of places we've stopped at along the way in various trips. One day about 3-4 weeks ago, I had the most vivid image of the Buc-ees in Florence, SC. It was like we were there for a few seconds.

Recently, I've had a random flashback (twice) of exit 77 of Interstate 77 in Wytheville, Va. It happens at any time of the day and it's almost like a scene from television: I'm just doing whatever at the time but then this vivid image of that place pops into my head as if I've just transported there. It's really weird but a fun memory.

We went to Dollywood four times in 2024 and one place we've stopped at a few times was that exit 77 to either get fuel or grab something to eat. We're never there more than maybe 30 minutes. The last trip in November, we decided to eat at the Burger King since I was craving a cheeseburger. I found a decent place to park and we had a good quick lunch on our way home.

This morning I was telling my wife of my recent "flashback". She definitely remembers the Buc-ees but she only vaguely remembers exit 77 in Wytheville. So I pulled up Google maps to show her. On Google maps, I locate that exit and then I go to the street view right in the center of the overpass. That overpass is called Ready Mix Rd. In the street view, I showed her the Arby's we ate at many months ago and then I spin around to show her the Circle K we got fuel at once and the Burger King we ate at on our last trip.

HOLY COW! Look at that Burger King! There's our Seismic parked when ate there back in early November! How weird is that?

Going to Dollywood four times in a year would have put me in an insane asylum . Eating at Arby's would have created a revolt in my digestive system too. We have learned a lot about their roast beef sandwiches that used to be sold two for one as their way of getting people into their outlets.

I guess my most highlighted memories was in my youth of traveling in my little yellow VW bug and reduced to eating a Claxton fruit cake bar as my fast food dietary meal.
