Hey Everyone.

My wife and I are debating about whether to buy a camper now or wait till I am done with school next spring. I thought we had decided to put it off, but she texted me at work today and said "I really, really want to go camping". We will get one (a popup), just not sure when. A friend of mine owns a Jayco dealership here in Ohio so we might have to pay him a visit.

I am sure I will be on here asking questions from the masses who have alot of experience.

Make the wifey happy and take the plunge! (if financially practical of course with school looming). Ask any and all questions, we have a great group of friendly members here. And welcome to the forum!

Welcome to the forum Jebster. Lots of friendly, helpful, and knowledgable folks here so ask any questions you may have. Good luck with your decision on when to purchase but having a friend in 'the business' is a good way to start.

Whether you get a camper now or you wait until you finish school, I say you get exactly what you want the first time around. Also, remember, if you have to finance, you can at least deduct the interest from you taxes.

When she texted you "I really, really want to go camping", are you sure it wasn't "code" for something else? :lizard:

We've been looking alot online and deciding what is important and what isn't. Think we may hit a couple of local dealers this weekend. Might help to actually step foot into one.

I think she actually really does want to go camping. We tent camped a few years ago, but now want to get off the ground.

We started off in a tent and then a tent trailer and gradually moved up to our 21M hybrid. We enjoy having the canvas overhead when we're sleeping - gives you the feeling of a tent with the comfort of a travel trailer.

Hope you find what you need..tent trailers are a great start. My advice is to get one with a one piece door. The two piece door can be a hassle if you are not totally level on your site.
