For those that don't know the reservation site Recreation.gov made significant changes that became effective this past weekend. The site went live on Friday, Oct. 5. I was poking around this afternoon and I think they still have some work to do.

We had a reservation at a COE campground this past weekend that we needed to cancel because of the weather. In the end, I think everything is going to work out OK. But the site was inaccessible to the public, campgrounds and Recreation.gov customer service the previous five days which created more than a little angst.

Just curious if anybody has taken a look and had any thoughts.

Once they get the bugs worked out in MAY turn out to be an improvement, but for now it is spotty. Some information isn't available for all locations, such as maps of campsites at some COE parks.

Never had an issue with the original Rec.gov. Just went on it and looked around. Couple of CG's we frequent were there but only one had the CG map. I assume it's still under development.

I currently volunteer at a COE campground and all of the data from the old site is still being uploaded so there is more background data available daily. New stuff is being added and it should be a nice site as more time passes. It was a real disaster on 10-5 when it first opened up - way too many users and not near enough band width is my guess. It has gotten better every day since.

I'm finding it less "user friendly" than the old site. Not obvious what/where you need to click to reserve a site once you figure out if it is available.

New but not really improved...
