Thoughts on the 27BHB?

I currently have a 2020 Jayco that I'm looking to trade in for a Jay Feather 27BHB. I've had no problems with my current Jayco and I like the Jayco brand.


I was ready to buy a Grand Design 25DBE as I think that has the most ideal floor plan and comes in at under 30'. Unfortunately it has a Schwintek slide system so that was a deal breaker. The 27BHB, as far as I can tell, has a rack and pinion system so I shouldn't have any of the issues that come with the Schwintek.


Does anybody have any thoughts on the 27BHB or anything on current models to be aware of? The 24BH was another consideration but it only has the U-shaped dinette and no couch. Not particularly a fan of the length of the 27BHB but there's really not a whole lot out there that matches what I'm looking for otherwise.

I have the 27RL which looks like its the same frame/body/sofa/table. No issues. I think tip to tip its 32 ft which I havent had any issues parking it, actually easy

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not overly worried about towing it (even with a half-ton), but I was just hoping to find something similar in layout to the Grand Design. For the features and value there isn't a whole lot that compares.

As TMTEX stated, the 27RL is a great RV with a lot of living space. It's more of a couples camper vs a family type with bunks.

However, we have a 2019 27RL that has the tri-fold sofa and are very happy we ended up with that, as we have a grand child or two that comes up with us and with that sofa, it allows us to have the extra space for him/them.

Quality is amazing and we have been very happy with the floor plan.

But again, if you are looking for the bunk type RV, the 27RL really isn't the ticket.

Of course, keep in mind, that a bunk model will not have as much seating as a couples type RV.
Ours, and I'm sure TMTEX's, have enough seating for 6 comfortably. Not sleeping, but seating.

Unless you know of an alternative for a bunkhouse that would work.

Yeah, I'm trying to find a balance between seating and sleeping.


I also saw that the 27BHB is only a 30amp and isn't even pre-wired for 50amp. Is the 30amp 13,500BTU AC enough to cool that entire thing if you're in a hot environment?

A 13,500 is probably not going to be enough to cool the entire trailer in a hot area, such as AZ or TX.

And, yes, they are not pre-wired for 50 amp.
