We have a 2021 284BHS and we are thinking about downsizing into a couple coach due to daughter going to college and not going with us as much. Question is, is now a good time to trade in? Of course Jayco salesman will say yes and say now is the best time…is there a better time of year to trade in? How much value will my trade drop in 3-4 months?

It depends on what your local market looks like as far as supply and demand goes. If used trailers are in demand or if they are flooded with new ones and need to get rid of them you may.

We bought a new trailer in April and got a great trade in deal on our 2021 Spirit Ultra Light 2557RB. Also our new trailer was heavily discounted because it was a 2024 left over. We had a motivated dealership.

We financed 15k five years ago, they offered us 14k for trade in…didn’t budge to much on the price of the unit we want.

At the end of the day, it really does not make much difference. When demand is high, the price of new and trade in value both go up. When demand is low, like now, the price of new is discounted more, and the trade in value goes down. So get what you want.

Thank you, we went yesterday and looked at some units. We decided to wait til the fall (when we plan on going out next).

I did some poking around on trade value, and I received offers that were within $2-3K of each other. However, given our investment in the rig, none of the offers even came close to a value that would attract us. I agree with AZDIESELPIG that you never know what you may get with a new unit. We decided it's better to stick with the mess we know than to start over with another can of worms. We've worked though a lot of issues on our rig (aka the Dictator); the only way to receive the value for all we've invested is to keep it and use it.

We paid 100K 2 years ago and the best trade value we got was 50K. No way I would trade losing 50K.

RVs are strictly toys and not investment.
