Tire Minder Smart TPMS

Sorry for yet another post about tire pressure monitors. Have about decided on the Tire Minder Smart TPMS system. It uses your smart phone as monitor instead of dedicated screen. Already have a screen for back-up cam, and don't really want another.

Anybody used this system? Is the range of the sensors OK (signal strength?). Reviews seem pretty positive.

I have the old non-color dedicated screen and have used it for several years with very good monitoring. Since they build them for truckers, I can't see how you can go wrong.

That is what we have too... I don't trust anything that has to connect to a mobile phone to be a warning system for something so important.

Ours works excellent, we monitor 10 tires on the ground.

Remember that you don't need to have that little remote monitor on your dash as another distraction. You only need to be able to hear the audible alarm, then investigate. Ours is tucked in a center console pocket cubby where either one of us can grab it to read the warning. And with our TST system, the monitor does not need to be plugged in- in fact they don't want it to be and the battery will last a month or more.

I have a 4 year old tire minder and am very satisfied with it. Works great and they have excellent customer service. I dropped my monitor last year and called the factory to get the cost of a new one and they sent me one for no charge.

Same reason we have a dedicated GPS. When we got a phone call it dumped directions and map. Phone is phone and crummy camera. Nothing else

I just installed the Smart TPMS yesterday.
I think I would rather have the TM-77 instead. The TM-77 has a hand held screen that is the pretty much the same size of an iPhone 10, it is the same size as the Smart TPMS Bluetooth adapter, so what’s the point to using your phone. You still have to turn on the bluetooth adapter, and turn on the phone app. The screen images are the same too. Might as well just pick up the TM-77 screen instead of the phone.
The Bluetooth adapter needs to be charged... so does the TM-77 hand held screen.

My other disappointment with the Smart TPMS is it takes an hour to register a disconnect. I contacted cust service because I left my trailer parked and the app showed I had perfect tire pressure while I went uptown. It’s kind of pointless having a TPMS, if it ever disconnects, you won’t know for an hour.
I wish the pressure and the temp were displayed for each wheel all the time, instead of pressing each different wheel icon on the screen. I would like to know if one of the wheels is heating up by just glancing at the display.

We have the old monochrome tireminder screen. While filling tires I had to remove the sensors from the valve stems. That means the sensor detected a pressure drop to zero. It alarmed immediately. So I'm happy with our 77. Also I used a cell phone mount next to a cigar lighter outlet to hold the screen.

I'm in the "get the dedicated monitor" camp. The monitor is designed to do one thing and it does it really well. I've had 2 dramatic tire failures and my TM alerted me before the tread that I just lost stopped moving in the roadway behind me. I've learned it's best not to fix something that isn't broken.

My TM55B still works but a sensor is dead.

Replacement is $79.00 for a pair? OUCH!!
