So we're getting ready for our 1st trip in the new rv and I was checking the tires which raised a question. how do you check the psi in the dual rear tires. the outside tire has the valve on the inside of the rim which makes it a pia to get to. does everyone add an extension to the valve?

also I think we have an issue with one of the tires having a sidewall bulge. hoping the dealer (camping world) will fix this tomorrow as we're heading out and since we literally have driven it home and it's been parked since we bought it 3 weeks ago.

Might just be where the bands come together. Common on many tires. Hard to tell from your pic.

it's bulged out about a half inch or a bit more. Definitely feels and looks like a bubble formed on the sidewall. is it something we need to replace or is it just "common" and not to worry about?

it's the factory handcook's, it's a 2025 rv so I would like to hope they take care of it. The specific handcook tire is only like $130 at Walmart so not a high end tire.

I'd fix it for sure

Tires are yer live in an RV

My tears have a small extension on the stem so my tester and air hose can get em. They are just the little 1/2" or so extension
I've tried longer but never vary happy with them

Hankook will be who covers the warranty since they came on the chassis from FORD. So finding a tire dealer who sells them will probably be faster than going to your RV dealer.

You didn't say what model motor home you have, never less a good quality 2way air gauge is a must. I have always found it easier to remove the rear wheel inners to check the air in the rear tires.

Its a 25 Jayco Redhawk 22af.

You have to remove the wheel simulators (hub caps). The outer wheel valve is facing inside while the inner has an extender that comes through one of the oval holes in the outer rim. It's advisable to get a double head chuck pressure gauge.

Definitely replace the tire with the bulge! Also get the gadget that jyh818 mentioned.
It is a pain.

I installed extensions where you can check air from outer rim. I replaced all my tires with Goodyear Endurance load range E 10 ply. Then I had them kevlar filled. Every RV comes out with cheapest tires they put China bombs on most. I didn't want to worry about my tires having a blowout. Most of my buddies have went to load range H tires. A good tire starts at $300. Good Luck and Safe Travels!

I doubt CW will help with the tire.
But tire shop isn’t going to replace when you didn’t buy from them.

Maybe someone will put in a dealer warranty?

But I would just buy it if it’s $130 and save the time. CW will take a month to change a tire.

Tire Sidewall Bulge

That appears to be a "Bulge out" not a depression inward. If you confirm the bulge is outward then it is a manufacturing issue and the tire should be returned to the tire company and replaced.

As a Tire design Engineer, I covered Bulge vs depression in detail in this post.

Tire question

I had the same dilemma, so I took my class C to my mechanic after I purchased a new tire valve stems varity pack from Amazon and had them installed. Now I can reach all tires as the inside valve stem extends to the outside tire. Easy peazzy.

I asked Discount Tire this question on a new set that they installed. It is normal and the line you see is normal for the tire.

Yes add extensions and do not add the braided extensions. They will flex and leak.

There are several threads on this topic.

Check out Steel Man hub cap removal tool on Amazon. Works great

A bulge out" is many times the sign of an open sidewall splice. I bet the Discount tire folks would not be willing to put in writing that an "open sidewall splice" is never a potential problem.
You can also file a complaint with DOT at https://www.nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem#tire and include the picture.

Good luck.

I wouldn't have Wal-Mart even change a tire for me.

Personally, I'd go straight to Discount Tire. They likely won't warranty the tire for you, but you could have it replaced and purchase their "Certificates" on all of your tires. I used to make money on those, but the last several sets have not given me problems. I still buy the certificates on every set.

FWIW, I had 3 out of my 6 OEM hankook tires bust belts. For as popular and well-regarded as they are, I found them to be junk. I have replaced all 6 with Michelins, and have been happy so far.
