My 1998 pop up had new tires put on in about 1000 miles ago. I noticed that the insides of both tires have excessive wear. Any ideas of the cause and how to correct it???

first thought I have is tire pressure. But I need some clarification; what do you mean by the "insides of both tires" Are you talking about the center of the tread area, or are you talking about the outer edge of the tire between the tread and sidewall on the backside near the hub?

If you are talking about the center of the tread is wearing, I would suspect your tire pressure is to high and you are pushing the tread out so it is wearing uneven.

I checked the height of the tongue on the 2014 Silverado and found that it is 3 inches higher than the 1997 Suburban that I used to tow it with up until I put new tires on it. I'm sure it effected the tongue weight.

I thank you all for your help.

I had a similar experience with our 2011 22FB and it is probably caused by improper tire pressure. This happened to me in 2012 and last year (2013) I watched the tire pressure like a hawk and had no issues. In 2012 I had to replace two tires because they were wearing off on the edges (one inside edge and the other outside edge).

I took all kinds of measurements looking for a bent axle and found nothing.

Get your self a digital tire pressure gauge and never rely on the gauges that air on the air hoses. They are notorious for being inaccurate. When Jayco says 50PSI that is what it means. No more (the tires are only rated to 50PSI) and no less. Since you have a pop up it probably uses smaller tires, but make sure you run at trailer manufacturers specs.

Hope this helps.
