Trailer brake gain

Is there a way to adjust the trailer brake gain on the Seneca? Ours is on the Freightliner S2RV chassis, and we will be pulling close to 9000-10000 pounds so we want to make sure we aren't over stressing our brakes.

I don't know. Whatever came from the factory (2023 Seneca Prestige). Our Ford has another button we use to adjust the gain on the trailer brake, but we haven't found anything like that on the RV.

We will be pulling an Intech Car Hauler with a total weight of about 10,000 pounds loaded.

My 2021 Seneca Prestige 37K was wired for a brake controller. I had to install the controller myself. The wire bundle should be under the kick panel in front of the drivers door.

The coaches are typically only wired for lights, not brakes. The wiring is there, found mine behind the foot panel on the drivers side, but you need to provide/install the controller. If you search the forum you should be able to find the threads about the installs. I installed a Hayes brake controller in my 2022. It ties into the air system to provide proportional braking.

I agree... But there is a disconnect between the maker of the coach (Freightliner) and the maker of the house (Jayco). Neither wants to be responsible..

We have purchased a Bluetooth adapter recommended by our local RV Store. We will give it a try on this next trip. The Hayes is out of stock until at least January. .

I wonder if it will work since there is no power at the power brake wire in the seven way connector. Keep us posted please.

I used a Tekonsha prodigy p3 with a Freightliner adapter, plugs into factory harness plug (usually hanging behind steering column) I was able to just move it from my pick-up to the motor home and back by having the adapter plugs for each. No need for separate controllers.

Yes, only prewired for electric as the manufacturer doesn’t know what you will be towing. You can use either an electrically controlled system or one that uses the air brake system to control toad/trailer braking.

I believe somewhere in 20-21 models they started having a Freightliner factory plug further up from the blunt end wires stubbed out. This made it so you could hardwire from the pigtail or unplug up further up and plug an adapter harness into.

2020 37TS - plug was behind steering column. Tekonsha harness available on line from many locations.

This worked! We're still experimenting with the correct amount of gain, but it definitely helped stop the car hauler!
