Trailer coupler lock

Any thoughts on a trailer coupler lock? Picked up our Jayco today and all the coulee locks seem to narrow to fit our trailer.

I just use a Master brand locking pin. Maybe not as good as a full coupler lock, but hopefully will slow them down or move them on to an easier target. If someone wants it bad enough, they'll get it no matter what you use; but in a storage lot or CG there are generally much nicer targets than ours. The nice thing about the pin is that it is also locked while you are in transit, lest someone be planning a parking lot swap out.

We bought one of the magahitch locks after searching high and low for a lock that would fit the wide coupler. We initially had our TT at a storage location that was a tad questionable & thought that the best option. We have since moved TT to a more secure storage location but still using the megahitch.

I bought the Hitch-it-Safe SL-3 Trailer Security Lock. I found it on Amazon. It works great for me. I also use a coupler latch pin lock with it.

On the forum, alone, I think I hear of one or two postings a year about their TT, disappearing out of there yard, and no one saw or heard it leave. Every year, I hear of about 4 utility or cargo trailers that are stolen, and these are trailers of people I know personally, or are Boy Scout Troop trailers in our District.

As for a lock, I have one like this, not sure if it is the same brand. What I like about it, is the key core is under the hitch, which makes it very difficult to drill out. With the horizontal locks, they are easy to see and use, but they also make it every easy to punch it or drill it out the core.

On another forum I read, someone's pop-up was stolen and never recovered. Once the insurance company replaced the camper, the owner dug a four foot deep post hole where he stores the camper, filled it full of concrete with a loop of rebar sticking out of it. Now when he parks it there, he runs a length of logging chain with a heavy duty lock through the rebar and the trailer's A-frame. It probably wouldn't stop a determined thief with a good pair of bolt cutters, but it might slow them down enough to think twice about it.

Use the same one, it works fine, haven't had it stolen but then again the lot is pretty secure.

Anyone ever though about wrapping a kriptonite cable through the rims on each side of the trailer. I'm sure if they wanted to they could wrap a chain around the tongue to a pintle hook and drag it away. Just a thought.

Kriptonite U-Lock through rim with cable wrapped around axel and leaf spring. Easy to instal, hard to cut and would require dragging trailer.
