Hi everyone. I own a 2 person, side by side (tandem) dual electric tricycle. It's a BIG bike. It is approximately 4 feet in width and 6 feet long.

I have a 5 x 8 trailer that I use to get this bike to my camping destinations.

Last year I successfully trailer the bike 1x. All the other times, no matter how I tied it down, it was always able to wiggle loose, causing me to have to pull over and secure it. I'm not traveling too far..usually no more than an hour ride. The trailer is a basic 'Carry On' with the wood deck and rear ramp, I bought from Tractor Supply.

I asking for help from you here, to explain to me exactly how/where I should be placing my tie downs on the trike, in order for it to STAY secured. I'm using the points on the 4 corners of the trailer, to hook my ratchet straps.

Would it be smart for me to buy a few rows of track system (Harbor Freight) and ratchet straps with the clip in style, anchors?

Also, I would load it forward facing, with the axle of the trike over the axle of the trailer, for best weight distribution. I'd turn the plow handlebar/front wheel to one side as far as it would go, then jam it up against the front of the trailer. I honestly thought to load it backwards, to better secure both back wheels to the front of the trailer, but thought to load it the opposite way was smarter? I'm realizing now, it's not as if it's a heavy motorcycle and perhaps I should start loading it backwards.

Thanks for any advice.

How are tying it down?

I would run one strap over the frame side to side(through the bike chain) and strap it down.

I would then get these straps for the handle bars and back of the bike.

I would also conder these bolted to the deck of the trailer in addition.

I would also weld some D Ring tie down points to the front the trailer.

That you for all of this advice and pointers. I am using ratchet straps. I'll usually pull the bike tight to the front of the trailer, with the wheel cocked to the left or right until it can't turn anymore, then run a strap through the frame. I hook each end of the straps to the tie down areas on the trailer. front/sides I do the same with the rear wheel area. I get it down good and tight, but somehow in transit, it migrates and everything loosens up because the trike has managed to move.

Oohhhh, I REALLY like those bicycle wheel holders. 3 of them would work really well. I could install them right onto the trailer bed. Then a simple ratchet strap as precaution anchor. I don't use the trailer for much of anything else. Sometime a dump run or (rarely) to pick up something big. So they wouldn't be in the way. THANKS!
