Trying To Remove IOTA ILC Power Dist Box - 22FB - Please Help!

Hello,

I have a 2009 22FB. I am trying to pull the IOTA ILC-3045 power box out from the trailer's cabinet so I can gain access to a couple of the unused 12v fuse or wire connections so I can wire in a couple of accessories.

I've removed the smooth flat black panel from the converter box, and now there is a black "picture frame" bezel that the flat panel was attached to left. When I look behind the cabinet, I can see that there are four screws that hold the converter box in place, but I cannot see the four screws from the front of the trailer's cabinet. This leads me to believe that the black "picture frame" bezel must be removed to gain access to the screws. There is one phillips head screw through a plastic part of the black "picture frame" bezel that is located in the center of the converter that must be removed first, and I have done that. However the black "picture frame" bezel appears to be held in place by some kind of snap tabs similar to what held the flat black panel in place. I can move the black "picture frame" bezel about an eighth of an inch up, down and side to side while the actual converter remains solidly mounted in the trailer cabinet, so I'm sure that black "picture frame" bezel must be removable.

I talked to the tech support guy at Iota, and he said it's an old model and he had no clue how the black "picture frame" bezel attached or was removed. He could find no exploded view diagram or other documentation, so I drew a blank there.

Does anyone here have any idea how I can remove the black "picture frame" bezel without destroying it? I don't like to force anything without knowing what I'm doing.

If there is any other way to gain access to an unused 12v wire without going to all of this hassle, I would appreciate knowing about that. My main goal is to install a 12v - 120v 400watt inverter and anything else is optional.

There are 12V wires running all around the TT, would think that one would be available to splice into. Removing the IOTA Load Center is a major headache on some models, especially when the converter/charger is mounted to it.

I have a 2005 Eagle and it sounds like you have the same unit I have. I believe what you are referring to is the IOTA ILC 3045 (Load Center) with the breakers/fuses behind the black smooth cover. The actual IOTA DLS Converter/Charger is mounted on the backside of the load center

I have had mine pulled out a couple of times, and it was a real pain. The black frame has the just the center screw to remove that you mentioned, and yes, there are plastic tabs around the black frame that have to be dealt with (see pic below). If you work at it you will find where the tabs are to push on...., I had one break the first time I removed the frame a few years ago. Also, there may be a large fuse that needs to be removed or the frame won't clear it.

Once the black frame is removed, you will find the four main Load Center mounting screws. Be careful removing the load center, there a lots of wires and their lengths differ and may not want to come all the way out with Load Center. Take pics so you know what goes where.

To gain access to the backside of your IOTA converter box:

1. Remove the smooth black panel; you will now see the "picture frame bezel."



2. Remove the phillips head screw located in the center.

3. After removing the phillips head screw, gently bend/twist the "pic frame bezel" from the sides. The frame has two tabs on the backside of the frame.



4. You will now have access to the four (4) corner screws; remove all screws.



5. You can now pull-out/remove the converter unit; the wiring should be long enough for you to place the converter unit on the floor and off to one side.

Don't break anything - I think I read awhile back that IOTA has sold out/dropped the IDP line. Don't know if that is the same for the ILC line or not...


Just a note here: I am always needing to add extra wiring here and there and what I did was install a BLUE SEA 12VDC SUB PANEL. This is direct connected to the battery source and provides multiple FUSED 12VDC outputs.

Has saved my day many times over...

Old thread, but just what I needed to know on my 08 28BHS. Jayco said to use a Iota 0760392 Kit. Hmm, we'll see what this is. TT is not near me and in use for a bit. I will upgrade my load center soon.

I had a tech install a WFCO 55 amp. Seems to be rated a great unit. I'll see it first hand this weekend. I hope to have better pics of this cover mentioned in this thread.
