I get great HDTV reception here with a RV BAT WING antenna mounted to the side of my OFF-ROAD POPUP. The BATWING has a booster amp so it gets fed 12VDC going up the same cable used for feeding the TV SET... I am using the standard ANTENNA WALL PLATE that most RV's use...
Here at the house I am almost exactly in the middle of Richmond to the South and DC to the North. They both are roughly 50 miles away... I get great HDTV reception from both directions... You can see my BAT WING antenna is not very high off the ground...
