types of RV mattresses

Different problem if you have a hinged mattress (part of slide out).

We ordered from custom mattress factory but you must measure accurately and note not to exceed because it can be too wide or long or deep to fit.

Costco has a temparpedic topper that I would get if I could… waiting for the hinged unit to ship…

Try a Dynasty...

Same issues as others, in that the standard mattress was a pain in the...back. I had already done some reinforcement of the bed platform (2017 24 FBS) so that was covered.

We ended up getting g a Dynasty 10" CoolBreeze Gel Memory Foam queen. NOT cheap and pretty heavy but we've been quite satisfied with it. Supportive, might be a tad firm for some but if I recall, depending on where you buy it, there should be an option to select different foam density and firmness...nice upgrade for us.

Brooklyn Bedding mattress

Check out Brooklyn Bedding RV mattresses. They have four varieties for RVs.

I got a short queen Dreamfoam Hybrid.

Very well made, with a quilted top and hundreds of cased coil springs.

Very comfortable and so far superior to the stock Jayco mattress I only wish I had bought it sooner.

We have a 2015 Jayco 23 rb Jay flight. I cannot sleep more then 2 or 3 days until my back really hurts. We have tried a foam topper which was much too warm when sleeping and did not help. We just were at the RV show in Cleveland and a dealer said to get a feather filled topper but we cannot find one that will fit. Does any one have any ideas or should we just buy a new mattress? And if so any recommendations on a good one. If I could figure this I would be camping for longer periods of time. Thanks Ted Byster
We bought a tempurdic mattress. No issues with the slide at all. And sleep super comfortable.

Tbear. I admit I haven't read through all the replies, but wanted to give you some input. We have always replaced the "rv" mattress. Because, as you've learned, a topper doesn't really solve the problem. Buy a good quality all foam mattress. Then if necessary, cut it down to the size you need. Slit the fabric. Then use an electric turkey carving knife. If the blades get too warm, let them cool. Then sew up the fabric. A simple Frankenstein stitch will do because your sheets and blankets will cover it.

We tried all that and the mattress it comes with are junk. We custom ordered from Verlo. Gave them the measurements and they built to our specifications. It was around $1100 but I’m guessing it would be $1500 now. But saved our backs. It’s the same mattress we have at home and in our hunting cabin. This way we are always comfortable. We have a Rv king.

Ditto on the new mattress we also tried toppers on the cardboard filled Denver mattress Jayco bragged about. No Joy. We bought a Zinus short queen. The radius cut is not necessary the squared ends fit fine on our 29MV. The mattress sleeps very well.

If you like the one at your house, check and see if they make the same one in short queen.

My house (mattress from Sam's) and RV (mattress from Amazon) are the same mattress... no transition needed.

We have a Tochta mattress ordered online. They can do custom sizes. Ours is a short queen size. We bought this around 2018 and it was $350. We love it.

In our prior trailer, our replacement mattress was a Zinus. It was comfortable, but it never stopped stinking and molded. We replaced it with a 9" Dreamfoam from Brooklyn, and it was awesome. We are soon to order an 11" Dreamfoam for our current trailer. They are made in AZ. We like that!

Our '19 24RBS came with what they called a "mattress". It was horrible. After the second or third trip, it got its a$$ kicked to the curb for the big green truck. Went to Big Lots & got a ~250 dollar Serta. All sleeping has been bliss since then!!!

We got our hinged mattress from Custom Mattress Factory - Kingsley model. Use due care measuring and let them know what not to exceed because they are much more robust than factory ones... We have been on it for a couple weeks and seems to meet our needs nicely!

Delivered to door at no cost - US made. Thumbs up!
