Upgrading a 2014 Seneca 37FS

Hi all,

My wife and I are eyeing a 2014 Seneca 37FS next year. It seems to be the only option for our five kids. We like the unit but have two requirements that are deal breakers. Is it possible to add a tankless water heater to work in addition to the regular water heater? Plus, is there a recommended custom RV furniture shop that can build a solid dinette that slides out to comfortably seat six at one time.

The 2014 Seneca 37FS comes with a Gerard tankless water heater.

Where to you live? There are numerous shops in he Elkhart area and I know there is one on I-71 just South of Columbus that does custom RV/Van mods. As Doug said you can get anything if your willing to pay the price.

The Jayco website lists a water heater:

10-gal. gas/electric DSI auto-ignition water heater

Having both would be an asset.

We are in Toronto, Canada. I've seen some of the custom furniture pictures online, and was hoping for the name of a local shop. The RV show is here next month and I'm hoping some custom furniture companies will be there.

The Jayco website lists the 2013 version not the 2014 version. My 2014 Greyhawk came with a tankless heater. Caveat emptor on the tankless water heaters however, they need very smooth water flow to have consistent temperature. This isn't the case when you are on pump water. You may want to get a 2 gallon accumulator tank just in front of the tank-less water heater to keep the pressure up. The other issue is tankless water heaters work on propane not electric like the tank versions, this means that you can't use the "free" electricity at parks to keep the water hot when not showering. I would only turn on the propane when we shower in the morning (or when dry camping) and then use electric during the day. Many people who have the tank-less version have reverted back to the tank version because they could not deal with the problems from the tankless water heaters.
