We have our first TT and are newbies. My dumb question is will the heater work if you are dry camping or do I need to be plugged in?

The heater will work dry camping as long as your batteries are charged and you have propane. You will need the battery to run the furnaces fan and the propane be the heat source. The fan can easily/quickly drain your battery in cold weather so you may want to consider a extra battery or a 6v battery set up.

Too add to the above by JK, you might consider taking a generator or a install solar panels to keep your batteries charged. Like JK states, the furnace fan is a power hog that will deplete your batteries fast.

If you plan to dry camp often, two 6 volt golf cart batteries will last longer than two 12 volt batteries.

Thank you, yes we have 2 12 volts and 2 30g prop tanks and a large generator. I was asking for cool weather winter weekend trips. Hubby is calculating the fan amps as I type lol
