Using the outdoor shower?

Has anyone toyed with using the outdoor shower by placing a shower curtain across the slides? We have reserved the indoor shower for the cat's litter box and am thinking of using the outdoor shower instead. I know some states, like VA outlaw waste water from being dumped on the ground so it might not be legal to do so in some places. We have reservations at a park with no shower facilities so we either stay dirty or shower in the rig. I'm just looking at options. Local gyms want $75 a month, so that's an expensive option. They want $15 per single visit.

Retaining use of our indoor shower as an indoor shower is imperative for us.

We actually came up with an alternate solution for the cat pan. I took out the drawer under the forward dinette seat (along with all of the hardware that holds it) and put her cat pan in there. This serves "double duty" to keep the cat pan out of the way, and the dog doesn't like to stick his head in the hole to get "cat treats".

The pan is easy to access through the top of the dinette seat when it needs to be "tended to". It's a "high side" pan too, so she doesn't end up getting a lot of spillage when she's burying. We keep a small vacuum on board to take care of what does escape.

ETA: There's enough room in there to fit her cat pan and her food bowl (again, so the dog doesn't get to it).

That being said, my wife will often wash her hair at the outside shower. She has A LOT of hair, so she does this when we don't have full hookups to save from filling the grey tank. Other than that, we all take "navy showers", primarily to conserve hot water so all 3 of us can get a hot shower, but also to limit tank fill,

I like that idea except we came from a 37' class A down to the 29mv and never have enough space. To lose that drawer will be a major loss but I like the idea. I'll kick it around with the wife and see what she thinks. We also came from a 41' sailboat with limited fresh water supply and a long line of MHs with small fresh water tanks so navy showers are the rule of thumb here too.

Thanks,
Jim.

I have seen camping video's of people in a popup camper and they setup a external shower tent. You can get them where ever camping supplies are sold

Unless you take really long showers, move the litter box out of the shower while you take your shower and move it back when you are done. I doubt the cat would even notice the change.

Short answer to the OP. Yes. Quite a few times. Mostly where the shower curtain was unnecessary.

As for the "waste water," I won't say "never" but I can't imagine anyone complaining about shower water on the ground. Were you to rinse off your dogs or boots, the effluent would be worse.

Furthermore MANY tent campers bring along shower enclosures, and nobody complains.

My suggestion would be to get a tent camper's shower enclosure and an extra long shower-head hose (with a better shower-head) and erect the shower enclosure right next to your rig. The shower enclosure will be far more secure from accidental "exposure"...the thing that might actually get you in trouble. And with this system, you needn't bugger up the exterior of your rig with makeshift shower curtain rods and anchors to prevent the shower curtain blowing out and causing you legal problems with indecent exposure accusations...and so on. These enclosures typically go all the way to the ground further protecting you from prying eyes. The contained shower water will go unnoticed until it percolates into the ground.

Like I said, when in the boonies, I throw down a rubber mat and shower and enjoy the view But not in an RV park, because NOBODY will enjoy THAT view.

Yeah and they are interesting in a campground. Basically I use the outside shower in the middle of the forest when no one is within a mile but otherwise use the internal shower! Otherwise strange catlady in the outside shower.

Does your rig have bunkbeds? If so, we removed our lower bunk, turned it into a storage area and a place for the cat litter box so that it wouldn’t be in the shower for exactly the reasons you mentioned I took the lower bunk out in such a way that I was able to put it back in this fall because we’re thinking of selling, took me about an hour to restore it two bunk section.

Grey Water is what you get from the shower and that isn't illegal to dump. Black water is not legal to dump on the ground. Here in Minnesota you can pee into the lake but if you pee into a bottle you cannot dump it into the lake! I got that from a DNR Warden.

I always wondered why I never saw a muskie with a reusable water bottle. Now I know why! ;)
