Anyone find it like pulling teeth to get a SIM card with Verizon for a Wineguard?

https://winegard.com/connect-2-4g/

Stores are no help and online ordering fails, chat agent cannot add service. I can only use pay as you go thru pricey Wineguard Freedom plan.

You say (Verizon) stores are no help?
They wont sell you a data SIM card?

You can add ANY providers SIM card to the winegard, you need not JUST use winegard.

Sorry, I'll have to ammend... you SHOULD be able to change SIM cards depending on the model of winegard you have. On my Connect 2.0 I can swap from 1 providers Sim card to another as long as I'm able to climb on the roof..

Sorry, was trying to use these notes;

but not valid anymore.

… and not pay Verizon in store for $60 for another sim. Found cheap Amazon option for about $5. Should be able to add to my existing Verizon account.

"USUALLY" (used to be) providers gave you a data Sim card for free.
You'll pay for the initial activation and for the data plan that you want.
My Winegard Connect 4G 2.0 came with a AT&T 1Meg Sim card that I haven't used yet mainly because I've had good wifi/cable at every campground we've been to so far. I'll probably activate it and upgrade it to unlimited for my upcoming Eldora trip.

That pay as you go FreedomGo works, just pricey. 10GB goes fast but not worth $60

My provider, TMobile = 50Gig of 5G then unlimited at 128kbps for $50 a month

With my existing 3 lines, Verizon offering;

$20 for 15GB
$40 for 50GB
$60 for 100GB
$80 for 150GB

2Mbps to 56Mbps. 170 Mbps if Wineguard device supported / offered 5G.

or thru Wineguard w/Verizon, new account;

$129 month, 25Mbps up to 300GB

MUCH better $$! I recommend going that route.
I discovered that the ATT sim in mine is the winegard sim. So I'll use up the 1meg that is still there then replace it with a Tmobile sim and load it with 50G unlimited.

Unlimited with a limiter

I went to my local Verizon store (franchise not Verizon company store) and ran some scenarios compared to the Winegard Verizon option.
They told me for the Connect 2.0 type device (based on IMEI #) they have to sell Jetpack plans, and the current Winegard Unlimited plan at $109/mo is better than Verizon could offer.
I found out later when talking with Winegard that their plan is not really unlimited; at 300GB you get throttled down.

On some types of routers, the SIM will not work and calling Verizon will not help, they know nothing about the problem.

The Verizon and T-Mobile routers are set to only accept certain settings and verbiage. You'll never hear that from a support call.

The APN is assigned by each provider and maybe you won't need it, but in case you do pls follow these settings or research them for your device.

The APN you will need to use is V5GA01INTERNET

Here is error, takes the IMEI but fails on next page. The online shows new (free) SIM to be mailed.

I plan to go back to Verizon soon.

But something tells me they changed and have to go thru Wineguard on a new line. Crossing fingers not the case.

Ok, finally fixed! Took the IMEI to store again, rep had to enter in the IMEI code twice, on his 2nd try, he went to back room, maybe they called someone, anyway, all good on SIM card now. Got the $20 a month plan for now.

Carry on!

Seems like a 180 from your original post of not getting any help.
Glad you got it done!

Yes, sorry to see your other post earlier but yeah, the DW and I are out camping I got their $80 dollars plan I think off camping season I might go with the $20 dollars plan so I want lose my number.

I called Verizon and gave them the IMEI number printed on the manual and they quoted me three different levels of service starting at $30/month.

ATT sim card

I was in an ATT store for another purpose talking to a "kid" you quickly signed me up for a "tablet" plan, gave me the sim card, which worked in the wineguard immediately and we get unlimited data for $25 a month. Works well in most campgrounds that we have visited.

Same idea here. We have trip to Glacier NP, hiking in Many Glacier, but after that probably done for year w/RV. Next year may up it to the $80

Here are details of the $20 plan.
