Water Heater 2014 JayFlight

I have owned my 2014 JayFlight since September of last year. First time owning a camper trailer. Bought it for my deer lease in the Texas Panhandle. Got to learn the hard way about how important it is to drain tanks and lines. Looks like I cracked my water heater tank, as the tank is leaking from the bottom when it is filled up and pressurized.

I am looking for info on where to look for either a new tank or new water heater. If I go new heater route, I am still wanting the electric/LP function, as I usually use the electric only to run the water heater. Also looking at thoughts on going completely tankless?

Thanks for any help y'all can provide. Hoping this will be a simple-ish fix.

First, welcome to JOF!!!

Kind of need to know if your trailer has the Atwood/Dometic or Suburban water heater.

If it's a Dometic, it will have an aluminum tank. If it's a Suburban it will have a steel tank.

If it's the aluminum tank, you can pull the water heater and probably have the tank welded.

The Suburban tanks cannot be welded, as they have an internal liner in them.

There should be a tag inside the outside cover that will give the manufacture.

If you can get to the back of the unit inside your RV, you can look to see if it is an aluminum tank or not.

If it is a Suburban, make sure to write down the model number.
I'm to assume it's one of the 6 gallon and not the larger 10 gallon.

I just went through this. Check the inside of the WH door. There should be a sticker with the model number. You can take that number and find a new unit ( I found mine on Amazon) but I’m sure most Rv repair places have them or can get you one. The replacement isn’t super hard just take your time pulling it out and rewiring and plumbing the unit. Just my opinion others may vairy
