Water Pump loses pressure

Help! Been full timer for 6 years and have a problem! I replaced water pump because I would have strong water pressure from pump, then after a minute or two, the pressure drops dramatically! From Texas and I’m Boondocking 18 miles North if Buena Vista, CO. About burned a tank of desiel trying to fix the problem! Anybody out there have any ideas I’m missing? The pump does shut off after I close the valve. Waite a few minutes, good water pressure! Heading to Montana, needing good water pressure from pump! Thanks for any replies!!!!
