Wet Bolt Upgrade Link?

Hi all,
Just finished up re-arranging the batteries/solar controller on the A-frame.
Next up, I want to replace my shackles/bolts/bushings with the wet bolt kit from mor/ride.
Does anyone known if there is a thread that details the whole procedure?

I would suggest you look at the Dexter heavy duty shackle and wet bolt kit as well.

That set up is alittle pricey is it really worth it? Well the same one in the write up

It's worth it if you see the cheap bushings and non lubeable shackle bolts the trailer makers are using. Dexter kit is about $166 and it is a personal preference that each owner has to decide.

I would suggest you look at the Dexter heavy duty shackle and wet bolt kit as well.

My trailer has the Mor/Ryde CRE 3000 suspension on it from the factory. I was just going to upgrade to the heavy duty shackles, wet bolts, and brass bushings that are designed for it. Are you saying I should remove all the components and change to the Dexter system?

It is not necessary to redo all of your hardware immediately. If your trailer in brand new, you can probably go for at least 5,000 miles before the bushings and bolts start to wear. The shackle bushings that come from the factory are plastic and the bolts are dry ones. Which means anytime you tow, the bolts will wear out the bushings until the plastic disappears, and they you have metal to metal rubbing and vibrating. I have the CRE 3000 also, but that only equalizes the weight between front and rear axle. If you are planning to do some cross country towing through rain and rough roads, then upgrading the hardware is a small investment. But, if you're only planning to do weekend getaways and will put on less than 5k miles per year, then you can certainly pro long the hardware replacement. But, I would at least have my suspension system and brakes checked every six months, regardless of miles.

We put quite a few miles on every year. Last year a loop from Oregon to Illinois via South Dakota and New Mexico. Probably 5000 on that trip alone. That does not even count local trips. This coming year we are doing a trip from Oregon to Colorado and back. So it is probably best if I just get this over with.

Wow, I have about 50k miles on my TT, and I haven't noticed any problems with the original bushing suspension. No uneven tire wear, no noises... And never hosed them down with lube of any kind.

Maybe I should look closer.
