I own a 2018 Alante 31P. My coach batteries to be replaced. Currently I have 2 6 volt wet cell batteries. My question is…..should I be switching to Lithium Batteries? What is entailed?

That is a hard answer without know your camping style.

Do you always camp with electrical hookups? Have you ran the batteries out of power while you are out camping? Do you plan to boondock, or maybe boondock more often? What type of frig do you have (120V residential, 12V DC, 2 way Propane/electric)?

If you have had no issues in the past, stay with what you got. One thing about lithium batteries they do weigh a lot less than LA batteries. So if weight is an issue, lithium might be an option.

As for what is entailed. You need to determine what converter you have in your MH supports lithium batteries. Some converters of that era have a switch that you can flip from LA to Lithium. If you do not, you just need to replace the converter unit to a lithium prepped unit. Not a lot of work.

Good luck!

Good advice above.

Not what you asked, but here's my 'sperience FWIW: My used unit came with 6v wet cells also. The coach had reasonable care, but me thinks the coach batteries were murdered......wouldn't hold a charge at 2 years of age. I replaced them with Group 27 12v Duaracell AGMs and I sure don't miss the maintenance that goes with flooded wet cell batteries; even though 6v golf cart batteries served me well on my old WBGO. I only have about 3 yrs on the AGMs in the Jayco, but I expect to go 6 or more as I never let them get below 12v (50% SOC). I did have to add one battery cable to wire the new batteries in parallel.

BIG caveat: I am a pole-to-pole camper for the most part ...... rare stays at WalMart, HD etc when necessary.

Good times and safe travels...........
