What 13.5k BUT A/C are in the 2018 Jay Flight SLX? Need a generator...

We bought a 2018 Jay Flight SLX 287BHS a couple of weeks ago. Obviously it is stored for the winter, so I can't easily check the make and model of the A/C to get its start up specs.

I really want to know if a Yamaha ef2400isHC inverter generator Has a good shot at starting the compressor and running the TV at the same time without making any easy start or hard start capacitor modifications to the A/C. I think this Yamaha is the best bet for us as it is light enough for my wife to be able to get it in and out of the truck bed by herself but much cheaper than paralleling two 2000 watt models.

A 13.5k air conditioner needs a 20 amp circuit at startup. I easily run my 13.5 at my house with “only” a 20-amp dedicated circuit from my homes service panel. I do not ever run the microwave at the same time.

To the best of my knowledge my Coleman Mach ac does not have the soft start capacitor upgrade.

It only needs those 20 amps when the compressor kicks on, because the fan starts immediately.

The 2400 might be just enough. But my guess is you’ll need to manage your loads manually.

Thanks for the info. Tests have shown that the ef2400isHC (high capacity I guess) provides a 10 second boost of 30 amps. Hope it is enough.
