Hello everyone,

Just bought ourselves a 2003 Jayco Kiwi hybrid. I have started to put things in it and think through our organization and storage so I can order and buy what I need for the camping season. Our model has these very short but deep open shelf spaces (pics attached).... and I just can't figure out what to DO with them? There is one smaller one above the kitchen sink beside the range hood and one that runs the length of the O/H cupboards above the bench dinette seat. Suggestions??? I am sure someone smarter than I am has already figured this out! Thank you

Ha Ha - yes well I figured that much out... was hoping for ideas of what other people actually put in them that utilizes the small space well. Its so short and deep.

Welcome aboard!

Above the sink, we keep spices, coffee, tea, etc. We also keep our junk food up there.

On the other side we keep all our eating wears. To help keep them organized, we use the ends of 30 pack boxes

Good idea -- all sort of linens and etc could fit in there nicely without shifting too much

My storage arrangement is 2 plastic bins for kitchen stuff when on the road. I take the cups and glasses out when camping and nest that bin under the left one. When using the picnic table I carry stuff out in the empty one ( make one trip). The paper towel holder is cogged so when traveling the roll doesn’t unwind. It’s in storage now so the Dehumidifier is in use. If you look at the range hood corner you’ll notice a foam pad to protect your forhead when it kisses that edge ( ask me how I know). Room on the right top for plates and flexible cutting board’.
Any other questions please feel free to ask & welcome to this fantastic group.

We keep things that if we hit a bump will not damage something when they fall. Extra dog poop bags, travel brochures, rain gear that won't be used for while, extra towels for the dog or guests.

As mentioned, storage bins filled with most anything. We just don't want loose items anywhere.

Our X19-H has similar shelves over the bunks. We bought a bunch of small plastic bins at Dollar Store that fit nicely. For travel I screwed in a couple of cup hooks at either end and run a bungee cord between them to hold the bins in place during travel. We keep a ton of stuff up there: small games, tools, spare parts, first aid kit, and on and on...

Our 16XRB has similar shelves - we have baskets in bigger back shelves, like bankr, and stuff blankets, pillows, towels, sleeping bags - anything stuffable - in the top. Sometimes we carry a portable printer and it fits in the top shelf just right, Everything in our trailer, including cabinet doors, is well battened down with bungees, straps, or hooks.

I no longer own our old ultralight. I stored dishes in there. The front is open so I put stretch cord over the front to keep the dishes from flying out. Photo linked below.

We put our games (Scrabble, cards, boxed games mostly) in there - there's a slight lip, so it holds low profile boxes well. I don't put anything that's particularly heavy or odd-shaped that will fly out on the road.

Might also work for soft goods - beach towels, kitchen towels etc?

Good luck

Kim

Things that are not likely to break or make a mess that can be easily picked up.
A loaf of bread would be good.
