When does a CG Switching to Reservations Help?

As we finish planning our summer trip I'm seeing the number of FCFS (First Come - First Serve) locations dwindling. I'm wondering at what point does it become necessary for a CG to switch to reservations? At what point does it benefit customers?

For example a CG that never fills obviously doesn't need a reservation system. Likewise a CG that operates at 100% and fills by 8:00 am possibly would.

Also, now when I see FCFS I panic a little and start generating plans B and C. Is it just me getting older and more stress adverse or are the crowds causing FCFS to be more stressful.

Dunno
I use an app called Ioverlander to find free sites
Some are not campgrounds.
Our journey across Labrador wont have campgrounds; there are few.
The FCFS decline may have a lot to do with staffing
Two weeks ago we camped at an empty campground
It required reservations
We nevee saw a soul and did everything online
