Where do you get your LED bulbs?

I want to put led bulbs in my trailer but they're rediculously expensive at your average stealership. I presume most buy them on line. Which brand, type and what website/vendor did you use?

I've bought several sets from eBay. I shop for the bulb type, color and lumens rating, then pick a vendor that has a good rating. Over the last 4-ish years I've bought 4 or 5 times from various vendors for 2 rigs and have had good results. 2 out of a dozen or so have failed in the last batch but I've always ordered extra. Guessing this last batch is of a lower quality. They all were shipped direct from China and arrived in a week or ten days as I recall. Prices vary but are in the $1 - 3 each IIRC.

What Redhorse said. Check lumens, color, and bulb type and throw the dice. A lot of them are direct China so it'll take a bit to get them. They're usually reasonably priced but some are designed better than others. Most of them have free shipping which I suspect is subsidized by their homeland.

Amazon has a plethora to wade through, and they are very cheap. But buy extra - in the two dozen I bought, several failed right away. Some of the others have bases that are intermittent in making contact in the sockets, so judicious tweaking of the contacts got them going. So, some futzing - but since I save a huge amount of $$, it seems like a decent trade off.

x2 for ebay, but I try to buy Canadian or American, seems like they are better quality. Always check brightness and color.

When you guys say, check brightness, color or lumens? What is it we want, what color is the best? What brightness and do hou use the same colored bulb and brightness throughout the trailer?

superbightleds.com is the only place to shop. American made (Although I live in Canada). They have been awesome

When looking for LED's they have all kinds of colors red green blue etc. And essentially 2 whites. Bright white or cool white which has a crisp bright white, or warm white which is the yellowish white. They will also have a number of SMD, which is surface mounted diodes or basically number of lights on the bulb, so 24 smd is brighter than 5 smd. Usually there will be a measurement in lumens too which is just brightness as well. EBAY sellers usually do a good job with descriptions, just make sure you check all the variables before ordering or you might not get what you want.

Thanks for the replies. However I'm not a fan of EBay. What brightness, color etc do you suggest? Last time I was in my trailer most of the bulbs were, iirc, were 921 and maybe a few 194's. I already found a lower wattage 921 (I think) for the lights over the bed. But like I said, I want to replace all with led's. My trailer is an '06 27BH.

SuperbrightLeds.com has fantastic customer support! Give them a call and a tech support person will walk you through everything and help you choose what is best for your application and desired effect/result.

Shame, you're really missing out on a lot of great deals. I've been buying from Ebay for many years and have never been disappointed.

All my LEDs came from Ebay. 15 flat panel bulbs with 48 LEDs each. $21 total cost. We're on our 3rd summer with them and they have been flawless. Even if one or two die, no real loss.

I Google the bulb type that I want to replace (bulb type) like I was trying to get the same bulb as a replacement looking for specs for color and lumens. Color is measured in Kelvin (K) and the lumens indicate brightness. The 921 bulb seems to be real popular in TT's (they look like an old flashbulb to me). A replacement bulb is around 260 lumen and 3000K.
This link only shows lumens
LED's may also be advertised with a color description (cool-white, bright white, daylight...), I avoid these and look for something close to the specs for the original bulb.
So, in the above example if I find an LED replacement for the 921 and the seller says it's 250 lumen (slightly dimmer), 3100K (2800-3200K is a pretty good color for my tastes) and has a good rating I'd probably order some. They like to sell them in lots of 10 or 12 and I like to order extras.

He is not the only one that refuses to deal with E-Bay

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the info. I've only made one purchase on eBay and that was many yrs ago. It went well, there were no issues. Maybe I'm a little old school. I've heard too many stories of sellers ripping off buyers and Vice versa so I just have no interest in eBay.
Sometimes there is just too many choices and I get a little bit of paralysis by analysis. I know you take a chance buying anything on the 'net.
One thing in Canada we take a big hit on the $$ if paying in US funds.

These are the ones I use. Not the cheapest, but not all that expensive. I've never had one fail yet, and never had the adhesive come off either. Color and brightness are true to the original bulbs in my trailer. I just usually order a set whenever I'm ordering something else from The Jungle (Amazon) and over about the last year or so I've almost got my entire trailer changed over.

I tried several of the other cheaper offerings and wasn't satisfied until I found these. The others had a high failure rate, color was off, or brightness was off. Whatever you buy, make sure the Kelvin rating is listed numerically; the terms "white" or "warm white", etc. are somewhat subjective in my experience. I ordered some cheaper elements that were labeled "warm white" and were WAY higher than that; I would have put them at "bright white" at least. They made my trailer look like a mobile crime scene lab!
