Greetings, new friends! We will be picking up our new 171BH next week. Would you recommend any specific sway bar and hitch for a Jayco Jay Feather micro 171BH that weighs slightly less than 4,000 lb? Towing with a 2013 Ford F150. TIA!

Welcome Aboard!

I would say the two most popular WDHs are the Equalizer E4 and the Anderson. I have the Equalizer, and really love it. It is a little heavy, but very robust and reliable. I have not used the Anderson, feed back I have heard is very positive, light weight, and functional.

Happy Camping :campfire:

I’ve had the equalizer and currently use an Anderson.
Both perform very well.
Only reason I like the Anderson more is the weight factor. Much easier to take on and off the truck.

I use Equalizer and have been very happy with it. Yes it's heavy but it's built very well. I have no experience with the Anderson.

Welcome to the forum!

I would recommend a weight distribution hitch and one that specifically has 4 points of sway control like the Equalizer. These hitches aren’t cheap but well worth the investment.

Pulling that trailer with an F-150, I think the Anderson would be a great WDH. I've never used one either, but the reviews are very good.

I have been using the Andersen in bad wind condition and thousands of miles with a similar trailer. So simple to use, light weight for mount, dismount and less weight on rear end. Simple to use and very positive. Quick to hitch/unhitch!

Andersen here
Happy with it
Have towed to Newfoundland twice and to Florida and back three times
No sway even in the Wreckhouse which routinely has 70 mph winds ( its in Newfoundland)
Havent calculsted dirt road travel but its considerable
Unit is 5200 lbs loaded ( not usually with fresh water)
Unit seems to work well

I have tens of thousands of miles on my Andersen. Completely satisfied with the performance of the hitch. In addition, if you ever do have a question or need a part, the customer service is second to none.

We have a Husky Weight distribution kit on our 2015 Jeep Cherokee North. Pulling an STx 174BH

Had a Husky fifth wheel hitch, to sloppy; went with a Curt fifth wheel hitch, night and day difference.

I've used both E2 and Equalizer. In my opinion, the Equalizer performed best! I think the key thing for that weight of an RV and tow vehicle is to use a WDH! Well worth the investment for safety and comfort!
